IMHO, the purpose of the kit lens is to get u started. Once u used the kit lens and know the limitations of the kit lens and the capabilities of the camera, u will know what you want in the next lens .

Instead, why not provide more details on what type of photography u take, so the bros here can advise further if the SEL1670Z meets ur needs

kit lens is a expensive paperweight.

1670cz.... cost≠quality. but it is better than the kit lens, imho.

Kit lenses are generally ok for normal use. I would encourage you to continue to use the kit lens. Until u get to a point where your creatively has become impaired due to the kit lens' limitations.

I am in no position to critic the 18-50mm ( I started from the old NEX era, hence the only kit I had were the 16F2.8 and the 18-55mm), hence my 2 cents will be purely from a general angle. From my experience, when I first got into photography, I went into a buying spree. Every now and then checking out new lenses and accessories. Nowadays I just lug my 18-105F4 only if I am bring out the A6000 (sometimes also bring along the 50F1.8 or 20F2.8 as a 2nd lens) . The rest of the lenses are collecting dust at home.

Hardware photography will normally require a macro lens and minimum a ring flash. A lightbox will be useful as well.

Landscapes normally need a wide-angle. Then again u need to decide if u want a wide angle zoom or prime. (10-18mm? 18-70mm? 18-105mm? 20mm? or the rokinon 12mm?). Not forgetting ND filters, circular polorizers, Square filter kits (e.g. Lee filters). U probably need a wired/wireless remote as well for sunrise and sunsets. An external flash or 2 will be useful for travel if u intend to take human subjects as well

Like I said, there are no end to the buying (photography is not a cheap hobby). Try to really learn to make use of your current kit before moving on. Once u decided to get that new lens, you will then really enjoy your new lens.

A dry cabinet is definitely very important in our humid temperature to protect your investments and the camera. That being said, if u forsee this hobby wun last, then probably no point buying a dry cabinet

Do you guys think its safe to use the xiaomi 10400mah power bank to charge while im using it to do timelapses?
Anyone can recommend a cheap dry cabinet to fit in a nex 7, a6000 and a couple lens?(18-200mm,macro and pancake lens)

Great shooting outdoors, but my macro shots not very well taken.
Can see my shots very shaky.

The camera is fine, working well until like a year ago, the scroll wheel doesn't seem to work. When i press left, the option of down came up instead. Thus i cannot change the exposure settings easily.
Just checked with sony, the repair for this will come up to ~$170.

OTOH, the A6k is about $810 for body alone.

Will you, if in my shoes, repair the NEX3 or upgrade and get the A6k?

which serves your needs better, nex3 or the a6k?

if you do not need the features of a6k, i think spending the 170 repair work is worth it.
