Just to share, evening was at Orchard Wisma Atria Sony centre looking at the X9000F and the Sony guy do a demo by playback 4k blu ray disc movie - Justice League on the 65 inch screen , using the X700 player connect to a sound bar (did not notice what model) than HDMI from sound bar to the tv. He was trying to demo the difference between Dolby version and HDR features...to my horror...the video quality was not sharp at all and the color was not lively. The Sony guy tried to do some setting adjustments and toggle between Dolby vision and HDR but the results still the same.

He apologize for the poor demo but still do not know what went wrong. I just said is OK and told him next time I bring my own Justice League disc for demo.

Dolby vision is not optimized at all. Same with HDR. Very few TVs can really take advantage of HDR cos of the brightness requirements. The tech is still in the teething stages.

He should have tried a direct x700 to TV connection, and use Premium UHD HDMI cables.

Bro, not very good at traditional Chinese, but r u saying Sony’s highest end non-OLED won’t be able to compare to a LG OLED?

I guess u r correct? I was at a a shop just now, think can see the difference between LGB8 vs SonyX9000F

Compare to Z9D or Z9F. 9000F is just slightly above mid range.

Got a 55' X9000F at Best Denki IMM over the weekend for $2449.

Free gift was some Tefal pans (which they say only can collect in mid-Jan), and a Ranger wireless keyboard and mouse (surprised the brand not dead yet)

Saw on fb there is a Sony 4k calibrator service. Is it necessary to get the person to calibrate the 4k tv?

Not necessary Unless ur videophile. Most mid to high range TVs r quite accurate in cinema mode. U can check how accurate it is out of box by reading those product reviews tat does measurements. Site like rtings sometimes gif optimal settings 4 particulate TV. Check those out.

Think Sunday selling for $1588. Seems like this whole year was promoting / focus sale on this model 55x7500f. Maybe best deal was March show $1699 bundle with fifa18 Ps4.

i also bought the 55x7500f but was a few weeks back earlier cos my TV colours were weird (imagine everyone looking like avatar characters) bought at 1999 from courts with the HT-CT290.

edit: my initial budget was 1k and was looking at FHD TV :s13: talked with the wife and decided to get something better and was looking at the non-android version initially but got psychoed by the salesperson. haha but no regrets. infinitely better than my previous TV - a philips FHD non-smart tv.

Also, do have custom settings for day and nighttime viewing. I usually start by turning off all the enhancement settings.

These are flagship models (esp the Z9D), there are other models with the small sizes - try the 9000F?

I see, but seems like no more Z9F, only Z9D

Now deciding between 55” X9000F or 55” B8

At those display shop, frankly I dun see any difference between x7500f or 8500 or 9000 or even z9d, z9f.... The only noticeable difference is the oled sony model.. It is truly a masterpiece. Too bad I'm out of budget for this.. Furthermore new models with new tech come out every year n its hard to spend $8k+ for a TV which will be dated after a year or so..
