My 8500B just broke down...use about 3 years plus...warranty just finished...power on the below screen led blinking in RED...call Sony to request for service and repair and informed that if power pcb spoil the replacement maybe about $200 but if the MB spoil the replacement cost about $1.6k!!!

OMG...the MB got so expensive to replace....

Try to find second hand. Part price is always expensive, especially SONY.

Nowadays the motherboard pcbs do not last .
Higher better technology always trade off with reliability.

Alarmat, the Sony customer service gave the wrong info...if need change MB only cost $400++ exclude labour cost...the $1k++ is referring to change the display panel...actually was surprise the service guy is not directly from Sony itself but from an assigned 3rd party company.

I'm interested in the X8000 series 43" TV. Should I wait for X8000F or just buy X8000E now? Also, any lobang for cheaper X8000E 43" deals?

I also in the same shoe as you but I ended with E than waiting for F.
Anyway when F is out, it won't be that as cheap like E.
Currently most places are selling around $1.2k.
Have not saw any place that sell below than that.

yea I guess 1.2k is the market price. wonder if the upcoming IT Fair will have some freebies thrown in though. According to some Courts staff, 2018 Sony line is releasing in April.

That's not a true statement.
Compare to early days TV. Components hardly failed. But chances is failed by batch due to components quality issue. You probability see same model with similar type of failures as manufacturer get these parts by batches.

Most service center in SG are outsource so not handled directly by the coy themselves.
For that price you are better off with a new TV.
