I think that's even less than the older 9000H?
Definitely less than the venerable Z9D...

Indeed the legendary Z9D is still one of the top Sony TVs in 2021 with its 648 dimming zones. That's equal or more local dimming zones than some of the current Mini LEDs e.g TCL C825 (160 zones). If its VA panel had a slightly faster response time and if there were a way to modify and upgrade the chipset for HDMI 2.1 4K 120 support on the Z9D, it would be a solid 2021 LCD TV.

Local Dimming Zone Count:
(2021) X95J 65" - 60 Local Dimming Zones
(2020) X950H / X950H 65" - 60 Local Dimming Zones
(2021) X90J 65" - 32 Local Dimming Zones
(2020) X900H 65" - 32 Local Dimming Zones
(2021) X90J 55" - 24 Local Dimming Zones
(2020) X900H 55" - 24 Local Dimming Zones
(2019) X950G 55" - 48 Local Dimming Zones
(2018) X900F 55" - 48 Local Dimming Zones
(2017) X900E 55" - 45 Local Dimming Zones
(2017) Z9D 65" - 648 Local Dimming Zones

IMO I wished Sony had put in the same amount of effort they once did on their LCD TVs back in 2017-2018.
Even Caleb from Digital Trends who is a fan of Sony has expressed disappointment against the X90J. Probably the first time he doesn't recommend a Sony TV.

I think that the Z9D was the max effort panel Sony made to counter the OLED. So it was engineered to compete at that level.
Then they also bought OLED panels from LG.
So their LED panels actually had cheaper to make panels with lower costs to appeal to buyers who want something more affordable.
I recall that the Z9D cost as much as an OLED back then. So it was not cheap.
Luckily they cut the prices when they were clearing stock back in 2018.
I think you can still find some on carousell as parallel imports now.

Lowest for 65" a80j I've seen so far is at 4199.
This is a good price. I bought a 2020 model 65" A8H in January 2021 for $4.6K I'd expect the coming (not out in Jan yet) new model to be much pricier but I was wrong.

The A80J was priced more aggressively and with the A90J above it, it's the value point for those who want a Sony.

I have A9G and A8H, i can see subtle difference between the two. Maybe I am used to the A9G. Similarly if the price gap between A80J and A90J is not much, then better off get the A90J. my personal view though. One more thing once you go OLED, you might not like traditional LED.

Yesterday made the decision to put down a deposit after the salesperson gave me a very tempting price.
Sony TV 65X90J , Sony Soundbar HT-G700 and HT-X8500 @ $35xx...

Seem like those looking for meWATCH app can finally enjoy on Android TV with v5.1.105 apk be it from play store or sideload so no need to have TV Box or TV DVB-T2 antenna, just need internet connection.

Additionally older SONY Bravia from 2018 and below can sideload Apple TV v3.0 apk to enjoy Apple TV content, do note need to test whether 4K is working due to DRM issue, but definitely work when set to SD only.

Hi guys, i have 1 issue with my Sony A8G. When i switched on the TV to play normal TV channel or bluray movies, the Screen saver will pop up after 5 mins while watching. Is there any solution to solve it?
Thanks in advance.

For those who can understand Chinese, you may want to watch the video below:

Interesting comparison..
Given that Sony costs more locally, the C1 is going to be a real competition..
Color purists will still want a Sony, but the C1 is really competitive...

Screen saver as in full screen? Or just some overlay? Have you tried rebooting your Android OS?
