I received my 1v yesterday and set it up during the day. The phone remained cool during all the process. I 'm very happy with the thermal performance.

My only problem is when operating with the Bluetooth remote that came with a selfie stick tripod, the shooting button on the remote cannot trigger the shooting function. My Sony GP-VPT2BT does work well.

Other that that, everything works great so far.

Was at the "workshop" (more like a promo event LOL) yesterday to try out the Xperia 1 V. Quite impressed, it dealt with most issues I have with my Xperia 5 II, especially since it now decided to draw a line at my continued usage of it, literally and metaphorically. Yes, I got that pink line issue and no, no more warranty

Liked how the staff know their stuff but was surprised at the change of the XM5 headphones to the Linkbuds. IMO they should have sent out an email to inform/promote the change. I feel kinda salty but then again, I got more headphones than earbuds so this Linkbuds will help to balance things out I guess? Tested some of the wireless stuff too yesterday, felt that the earbuds are more for me but I kinda wish I can top up for the XM4 earbuds...

Bought it yesterday night with the free vlog monitor; apparently they reserved a few sets for those who went for the event but havent decided if they buying or not, which is really sweet cos as of now, all 1 V and 10 V sold out in Sony online store, 313 (someone walked in last night to ask and was told it sold out) and Lazada. Yes, really lucky I got the set when I returned to the store at around 7pm and the staff recognised that I attended earlier in the day and so promptly prepared a set for me when I confirmed I wanted it (had to settle other errands after the event, didnt like to rush such high purchase items anyway)

Anyway, am hoping this is the phone that I can stay with for a long time compared to the last few years (this 5 II was just to tide me over when my XZs started to get harder to use for my work, but didnt expect it to get the pink line that quickly. And yeah, generally I have the most phone issues in any of my social circles so lol). Feels really great to be able to afford a more permanent solution too tbh, just didnt want to waste any more time on phone issues etc

Will take my time this week or so to get the 1 V up and running!

Mini review: I had been hesitant to change phone (from Xperia 1)as I didn't want to go through what I did previously, which was to take screenshots of my phone layout and arranged everything back to how it was (OCD). This time round, it was so easy, I just connected the two phones using USB-C cable and everything, including layout transferred seamlessly, just like iPhone.

During the transfer and update the phone felt pretty warm but after that it was fine. My main gripe was Sony doing away with the album app cos I loved that one so much, it was so easy to use.

I tried taking photos during mornings and evenings against the sky, HDR kicked in and the effects seem pretty good. I like how nothing is overly sharpened or turned into a watercolor painting, as iPhone is prone to do.
