Linkbuds S proved to be quite interesting to use as a first-timer to such TWS earbuds. Posting this here since they were given to me as a free gift along with the phone; I decided to try a bit with my own Sony tips and see if I want to keep or sell them

Decent sound quality (somewhat on par with current wired IE80). Highs, especially when mixed with ANC modes and walking, may sound kinda off though. Vocals are really clear (which is important for phone calls) and good bass is good.

While still cant beat my wired stuff in terms of quality and latency, its ANC and Multipoint (yes, it does, but they never advertise it well and you must update app and firmware for this) made up for it. Note that the XM4's ANC still beats it by quite a fair bit

I like how the app helps you find out if your tips are of the right size, make good use of that to guide you if you are not familiar with that.

Lack of voice announcer is kinda disappointing but not that big of an issue (although it is misleading for the app to let you choose voice language)

I can wear the Linkbuds S for hours with the right tips given how light it is compared to the XM4

tl;dr Linkbuds S quite decent, but if you are buying, can consider getting the XM4 if they still are on sale and you don't mind the slightly heavier weight in return for all of the benefits over the Linkbuds S, but there are rumours of XM5 earbuds coming soon so YMMV. If really unsure, best to go down to nearest Sony store and try them out before deciding

Note: I have not tested against phone/internet calls yet. Maybe this upcoming work week might help with that

Keywords: Somewhat + next sentence stating that it still can't beat any of my wired stuff

ngl I was quite surprised by the Linkbuds S; was expecting worse due to its wireless nature as per usual. I may need more time to find out its other weaknesses still and/or figure out why my IE80 feels similar

---------------------------------------------------------------

Did a quick round of auditioning before I go sleep

Yes, from a pure quality point of view, IE80 will beat Linkbuds quite heavily in highs, bass quality (?), separation, presentation and soundstage.

Only problem I am seeing is that for these to show up for me to pick up on easily, I have to be in my room, which is way quieter than where would these IEMs will be used (in transit, during walking etc). Will test more to figure out. Notably, I noticed that I was turning up the Linkbuds too high too despite the ANC and had to tweak these to match the IE80 before I auditioned them

I have a pair of Pixel Buds Pro and it works very well with Xperia 1 V, even better than with my previous Pixel 7 Pro. Maybe it's due to Bluetooth 5.3 on Xperia 1 V.

Went to collect my XM5 at 313 today and also take the opportunity to look around the store. Saw a guy that was ahead of me collect first and shocked to see he is redeeming headphones for 4 phones purchased. After that he bought 5 30W chargers on the spot. Really power. :ROFLMAO:

Lazada July 7th to 9th sale have one shop selling XM5 at $389 after store voucher and Lazada bonus.
He might be helping to import units into nearby countries that don't sell xperia- indonesia and Australia might be the prime targets

Everything still runs well except Goggle Assistant now cannot understand my commands to turn on/off my Xiaomi devices.
Got try to restart your xiaomi device / update firmware?

After updated the firmware phone seems to get even cooler (not even warm feeling compared to previously slight warm at times)

I can still use English to control my fans and lights. Previously I could use Chinese (Taiwan) to control them flawlessly but now I can't anymore. Other commands (like weather, movie, etc) still work though.
