That's why I ask Toader what number he call haha. Yours is cannot turn on at all also? Or still can turn on. Dunno if issit their SOP changed for affected sets also, but hope your one isnt them trying to replace the motherboard. If my one is affected when I send down I would insist on new set sia.
maybe they got more refurbished sets for one-to-one exchange liao 🥴

... my phone yesterday auto shut down... the temporary remedy procedures stated above doesn't work already. IT just flashed a Sony word and then auto off... 😑😑😑

Gotta bring it to 313 soon.
So it couldn't even turn on to do a factory reset?

Like that how to hand over the defective device to them with personal data still in the memory??

Yeah cannot. Power on it show Sony logo then auto shut off after around 3 seconds. Do the Safety switch on still the same... 😑

I passed them the phone. They said their side will do the destruction. The data inside is I believe what everybody also worry about.

Mine can still turn on, the speakers stopped working after only 2weeks of babying.
I attempted contact via Whatsapp 98383481 to ask for one-to-one exchange, but got a 'as per policy one-to-one exchange does not apply in this case.. exchanges only offered following prior assessment and servicing process.' Very template answer. Super sian :/

Why this reminds me of the xm4 fiasco where globally it was 1-1 exchange due to their shitty firmware killing battery but Singapore one only those under warranty got the replacement.

On the bright side your one maybe is just speaker issue, but depends on how the parts are connected, maybe if you heng eventually they realise your motherboard is also part of the affected batch and replace entire set anyways.

Not sure if 'Lemon law' apply in this case?

What if i dont want to 'wait' for it to happen; how to make it bootloop when I eventually get my set back. Anyone any ideas? for peace-of-mind and proof-of-concept of course.

They swapped mine to a new phone , added another 3 months of warranty on top of the 15 months.

The take home message is if buying Xperia pls buy from Sony or authorized dealers in home country, fill up warranties promptly if required.

Awesome that they add another 3 mths.

IIRC the only requirement if it defect is found within 6 months, it is considered to be tied to time of purchase and they must fix it, nothing that says must give u new one. Outside of that, burden on user to proof defect not from other source, but given that if any Xperia 1VII eventually bootloops in the future, even without warranty, given that this is a known issue, if u pursue through lemon law, Sony might be forced to fix it still.
