I guess the green line is not an isolated incident for only certain brands of phone.
It could be a number of reasons from hardware damage to software issues.

Samsung also had it. Why? Found out the display was made by Samsung..

Those were some disappointments. TSMC is a much better option for recent hardware, a pity sony do not put their money where it is worth.

Just updated the andriod on my sony xperia 5ii last week (auto update). Have not dropped my phone before. Yesterday, a pink vertical line appeared as I was charging my phone. Is there any way to get rid of it? Besides bringing down to the service center for repair (Phone was bought in Dec 2020, so no longer under warranty). Actual phone usage was from Dec 2020 to Aug 2021, after which I stopped using till restarted in May 2022 - approx 13 mths usage only)
How do I determine if this is due to a hardware or a software issue?

Can try the methods above. If is a software problem, still can solve with update. If is hardware, is a bigger problem. Hope the brands will provide free replacement after warranty if is a flaw.

Just realised my set is still under warranty. My export set is from UK, Sony UK's warranty for Xperia is 2 years period. But I have to pay for shipping costs.

Yes, have to send it back to UK for warranty. Sony SG don't entertain.

Joining in the purple screen line club. Woke up one morning suddenly got one purple vertical line on my screen. Dec 2020 local batch. Went down to Sony today quote me $1k stating cause there are other parts involved =.=

Went to Google, immediately come across this Mister Mobile page $288 for screen replacement. Haiz.. Anyone got better lobang?

I have two friends using this phone, one encountered this issue in late Aug and the other one got it last month. One of them tried asking two shops (of which one should be Mister Mobile) - both do not have the replacement screens in stock and was told to come again two months later .

Might be worth getting the screen yourself before seeking help at shops to change it for you if you don't wanna DIY.

Looking at the teardown video, doesn't look easy. The ribbon cable for the display goes all the way to the back of the mobo, so you have to dismantle the back of the phone as well to replace the screen

Found a display replacement on lazada... tempted to order then find some shop to replace. Anyone got recommendation on shop with reliable technicians to do the replacement?

In the meantime still considering. Later the replacement screen also affected by the QC issue and self destruct again in 1.5 years
