Apologies, should be pull mail.

Repair meaning at PC companion, even though it states that your phone is up to date, you still choose to update and it'll give you an option to repair. by repairing, it'll wipe out your data so you'll need to do a backup first.

After repairing (and a hard factory reset to attempt to solve my wifi problem), the lag is significantly better. but i'm still having problem with connections to wifi...

Cool!! Thank for the tips just repair my Xperia go and now the wifi back to normal.
Btw the battery can never be full if u charge it over night or keep it plug in for too long. The battery will discharge and u need to unplug and replug to get the phone to recognize it user charging again. This is to protect the battery as now most battery cannot hold high charge so will discharge very fast for the 1st 10% . Forget where I read this.
This is what I gotten from reading and personal exp.
correct me if I'm wrong.
Thank

actually, you only need about 2 hours at most to fully charge a flat battery and keeping it plugged into the charger after battery is full won't make the phone run ac...

the battery drain (10% fast loss) is actually true, (smart) li-ion and li-poly batteries will experience this... batteries that are able to hold full charge for a prolong period tends to bloat after few months of extensive usage, just read up on older battery models from various brands... so its normal to lose a few percent of charge within the first hour after a full charge even without using the phone at all...

i've tried repair function. i think the lagging gets better. but it was a hassle to get back my apps... it doesnt' auto restore the apps? i have to install back one by one, then restore my data to get all the settings back.

as for overheating and battery problem you had, i suspect it's an app that is the culprit cos i've encountered that once when i was on gingerbread too. reboot it to clear the apps or install a task manager and monitor further i guess.Ok,thanks! Have been trying to reset every now & then, cos always hang!

wireless issue shd be fine with old routers if it's only on b+g? i set my router to that and sacrificing the use of N band while trying to search for a solution. wireless is ok for now, but shd not be the long term solution.

Haven't do de repair, wireless also can't detect N band. doesn't auto restore the apps, not even backup from google acc?Real hassle!!!:(

What a joke from sony!!!:s22: On the list for Jellybean but next yr ,phone/batt might be dead by then.

Lemon law for this issue? Malfunction Mobile phone!!!

I have tried restoring to factory settings, but after upgrade of GO to ICS, my wifi cannot even turn on, it will say "turning on WIFI" then nothing happens. Even tried qwertyas38 suggestion to type *#*#7378423#*#*, when i choose to test WIFI, it is also stuck at "turning on WIFI".

Does this mean somehow after upgrading to ICS, my GO's WIFI module has stopped working? Hardware issue?

I think it was the problem with ICS 4.0.3. Unless sony push out 4.0.4, it is likely that some unlucky users will have problems.

GS2 users who upgraded to the same firmware version also have issues with wifi menu freeze, unable to detect wifi, etc.

One of the most recommended solution is to back up your data and do a reinstallation of ICS with full wipe of your phone via pc companion or sony update service.

my xperia go was upgraded from 2.3.7 to 4.0.4

wifi works... but connecting to my esr9850 (b/g/n mode) it's slow or unresponsive unless i set the router to g or b/g mode.

on mine the gps takes several minutes to acquire the location after clearing/updating agps data... regardless of whether wifi is enabled or not.

So to say, ICS 4 might not work best in certain phone models. If that is the case, just stay at GB as long as it dont give you any problem till the bugs in ICS 4 is resolve.

GB also not working well, viber calls can't be heard...ICS can hear but other problem arise.:s22: This phone doesn't work well, not for daily use. Now become just a toy.

Try all means, problem still can't resolved. Now phone also restart on it's own.Nothing better than a china phone,Should have got SIII.

Managed to resolve wifi issue on ics, reset to factory them reinstall ics using Sony update service. Working fine now. Phone runs smooth and battery life for my set at least is better than when it was on gingerbread

this is what i did: shut down, remove microsd, power up, perform a factory reset, do a minimal first-time setup, connect to mac for firmware update.

yep. same here, and same router too.

i just tried connecting to an aztech hw533 router in 11n mode. no "connection timeout" problems with the aztech. :)

both routers might be using the same ralink 3052 chipset.
esr9850: EnGenius ESR-9850 - InfoDepot Wiki
hw550: Aztech HW553 3G Mobile Broadband N Router (HSPA) (Selangor, end time 10/28/2012 6:57:00 PM MYT)

anyway, it seems to be an interoperability issue between the xperia go 4.0.4 firmware and esr9850 2.1.3 firmware.... my connectivity problems only started after updating to 4.0.4.

Lost my Sony earphones handsfree kit

The one that comes with the phone.

Anyone has a brand new spare that they are willing to sell me?

Or can any kind soul point me in the direction where I can get an affordable replacement?

Thanks

brilliant, thanks ... I noticed the icon at the keyboard, but it was only for configuration of the xperia keyboard. However, after reading your reply, i pay more attention to the screen and noticed another keyboard icon at the top left corner, on the status / notification bar. The icon was in black color. Pressing the icon would bring the list of keyboards to choose from
