Are u on M1 by any chance? seems like M1 doesnt have NR SA for non supported phones..
Huh shouldn't it be the other way round? M1 doesn't have NSA anymore anyway regardless of phone brand, and even on my 1 III I can get M1 SA.

1 III can get M1 SA?

Thats new then...
I remember someone asking the same question before and I said can, and somehow you said cannot.

But anyway yes it does work, been on 5G SA on M1 for a few months already on my 1 III.

That time M1 had both NSA and SA at the same time. They cut off NSA and i had perma 4G...

I think it's just M1 5g SA having poor coverage. In most places it falls back to 4g/4g+/LTE. I only get 5g near main roads or most parts of the MRT route.

So I just bought the Linkbuds S, and while updating it's firmware, saw the changelog stating support for Bluetooth LE Audio LC3 codec for Xperia 1 IV an 5 IV.

I immediately paired it to my 1 IV and enabled the LE Audio LC3 codec and jumped into a rhythm game, and....HOREEE SHEEET!
I CAN ACTUALLY PLAY A RHYTHM GAME VIA BLUETOOTH WIRELESS NOW!!!:eek::eek:
No perceivable delay, waay better than the game mode with S22+ and Galaxy Buds 2.
I guess this is it....I can ditch wired earphones now...:ROFLMAO:

Just came back from 2.5 weeks overseas in Korea and Europe, using this phone only without an additional camera like how I would usually travel, and I'm sorry to say this phone is f***ing bad.

It's been a year since I've owned this phone, and I really, REALLY, want to love this phone. I'm a street photographer, and the lighter and more discreet the camera is, the better. I've been using the Fujifilm X-T2 for the longest time on all my travels, and this is the first time that I've decided to rely on my phone fully for all mobile purposes AND photography. Unfortunately, as powerful as the camera may be on the phone, it ultimately frustrates A LOT. Reasons below:

1. Phone overheats VERY EASILY, and this is not solely environment temperature-dependent. I can be taking photos and videos in a cold exhibition centre, or out in the hot sun at 26 degrees, and the phone overheats within a minute. Which, as you by now already know, means the camera cannot be used until it has cooled down.

Even at a museum, just purely taking photos of statues also can overheat within a minute, what the actual f***?! it's not like I'm taking 8K resolution Times Square billboard sized photos leh.

I found myself switching to my work phone, an iPhone 14, to use as a backup camera when the Sony has failed me with its overheating. How can I use this phone to take photos on a regular basis when it's going to overheat more than half the time???

2. The phone also gets hot quickly just by using Google Maps to navigate, which also means battery drain is horrendous and I definitely have to bring a portable charger wherever I go. I can lose 20% in just 2 hours. Not sure if being on international roaming contributes to this as well, but hey, if I paid $1,600 for a phone and it's not even optimal to use it to travel then something is terribly wrong here.

3. That camera lag. About 1/4 of the time I miss my shots because when I press the shutter to capture the photo, the photo isn't actually taken yet. Instead the shutter only closes after I have released the shutter button and brought down my phone, which means the photo that is saved is most likely a blur picture of a wall / road / my shoes. For a street photographer like myself this is extremely unacceptable for a phone that brands itself as a photographer's companion.

I know there are going to be ardent fans of the phone / brand who will try to defend or counter every flaw that I've raised above. I'm sorry but my personal user experience has been really poor and that has also partially marred my travel experience, and I don't think a flagship phone of this level should be posing such problems. I like the photos that I've taken, but I mourn the ones that I missed because of the flaws above, and also the additional time spent trying to correct / workaround them on a holiday.

S8 Gen 1 is a bad chip made by samsung. Overheats easily on basically all phones with it.
The later version S8+ Gen 1 made by TSMC is the better one. But it is not chosen by sony.

Buy the Xperia 1V if you can afford it. It will change the way you look at Sony. As I've said on the Xperia 5IV thread, 1 graphite sheet changes the user experience by quite a lot already. The screen display did not go dim at all when I manual max out the brightness, as well as did not auto turn off camera for nearly 30 minutes of usage. Although the phone still heats up, but it already covers a lot which the Xperia 1IV couldn't achieve. Although it still force shut down after 8 minutes of 4k 30FPS video recording.

The Xperia 1V can last more than an hour of 4k 30FPS. I think at 26 degrees it likely can last until memory full/ battery run out, whichever comes first. The main fault lies on the Snapdragon 8 gen1, not Sony.

Lol bro, it took me three years before changing my phone from a Samsung S9+ to forking out $1.6k for the 1IV at launch. I'm not someone who can afford to change phones every year, and to be honest I'm not even surprised that you're replying to my complaints about the phone in this manner, given your obvious love for the brand throughout this thread.

By the way bro, I'm not dissing you, I'm just saying we probably have very different philosophies on how we spend our money on tech like mobile phones. And I don't think simply saying buying the next model discounts the fact that the 1IV is a very poor phone in many respects and quite frankly speaking, I've been shortchanged a lot for the amount that I've spent.

The issue at hand is that snapdragon chip, which is also in use by the flagships of all brands of that time. It's also the reason why I skipped the IV entirely even though I own the 1 II and III.

the new samsungs cost even more than the 1.6k you paid.

I'm on the 1 III and also facing some issues with heat.

but as he mentioned, the new one is better based on performance and reviews.

If you had read them, you would have had a better idea of whats going on.

Also, nice splinter cell name

Wow i'm glad you observed me defending Sony.

Because i'm a fan. Why am I a fan of them?

Because they innovate and invent and create unlike many other companies. They created many world's first, even in mobile segment. ( google is your best friend as I always say)

https://m.gsmarena.com/infographic_shows_sonys_contribution_to_smartphone_innovation-news-32087.php
The above link says many inventions and creations . Other companies later followed .

Smart watches first came up by sony ericsson then others follow suit , air tag by iphone . Xperia long ago had xperia tags.

They can design very well (aesthetically as well as ergonomic portion).

Talking about cooling system in a phone. They are the first to insert heat pipe and thermal paste into a phone when qualcomm produced their first heater processor. ( google the z5 ) Other companies follow suit from then onwards.

960 fps in a sensor.

Hs control application. Now many companies also follow suit , rename them.

Largest vapor chamber in a phone (expense of size) other companies follow again

Now it's the new exmor T sensor aka LYTIA. Samsung is now scrambling to make their own (google it. Latest most current news BTW).

All the phones that uses the snapdragon 8gen1 have heat issues . Even I posted the info about it when the first xiaomi used the heater processor. I did my homework and shared info about this heating processor. so the xperia 1IV surely will heat up a lot as well.

You can also argue that samsung also produce their own sensor the 100 and 200mp sensors and processor . ( But why aren't they using it on their own galaxy phone now????? Why?) BTW tensor was made by them too.

SO all these greatnes put together, made me become a huge fan of them.

Soon. The afeela .

Of course , nothing is perfect . They had their Downs too. Their marketing strategy. Their 2 android update ( but I think it's over hyped as well) As well as how they fought back to bring the company back from red line. It's not a one click button resolve everything like a game. Kudos to them.

Since we are all in HWZ, it helps to browse around and have a feel on the common hardware of the smartphones. I skipped last generation of flagships knowing the risks of overheating since most of it is not made by the reputable TSMC.

My last xperia 5 II also had lines on display after 2 years of usage, tried hard to avoid samsung hardware now. Currently using budget phones to avoid disappointment.

This year's flagship S8 Gen 2 looks like a better chip with improvements to battery life and heat management, in addition to usual performance increments.
