Sorry for hijack. But i'm currently using a Sony MDR 7506 headphone for gaming and music and onboard audio. Would me getting a soundcard help in the getting better sounding music, cos some said get a better speaker first then soundcard.

Also which soundcard would you guys recommend for me (most bang for the buck)?

If music wise I recommend you the titanium HD with a proper 2.1 speakers. But if you are on headphones most of the time then just get a regular USB sound card like the creative premium HD.

Get the Swan m10. After which go test it out first. Wait for a few months save up and then start thinking for a sound card.

Dolby MKV standards is encoded aka Dolby HD. This signal can be bypass by using your mobo and direct it to the soundbar. But it has a limitations. Dolby HD can only be passed by using a HDMI cable. So using the optical cable will be just Dolby.

There is no need for a soundcard to do this. The onboard will bypass all the signals and let the soundbar do its job.

If you want to playback the actual Dolby HD the only way is to play direct Bluray from the player and bypass it using a HDMI to the soundbar. Then yes it will produce Dolby HD.

Unless Asus in turn would wanna release the HDMI soundcard in SG then yes you can get that for a PC.

need some advice here

i have a PC with MP3 collection of music, and it WAS connected to a 12ch mixer via the PC onboard sound/audio. this mixer has been giving problems so I changed it recently to a simple 4channel mixer but now its connected to a USB port instead of the audio jack behind PC

my question is, by adding a SoundBlaster, with the output be from the onboard sound or the new soundblaster card ????

Behringer mixer:

Sorry for chupping threads all over the place haha. Hope people don't mind.

I got a pair of Astro A40s with the MixAmp pro. Would a soundcard improve the sound?

I know I would need to get a soundcard to get Dolby Digital Live for my mixamp to process the surround sound..

Any sound card to recommend if I am using the old altec lansing atp3 2.1 speakers? With me since 2005. Haha. Was thinking of the creative z pcie or usb dac from creative 7.1 channel.

How about if using bose companion 2?

Currently using on board sound from msi gaming and mpower board.

Nope. That speakers arent a good pair though. Used it once last time before i use my current audio setup.

Is pretty crap even with my Fatality Recon.

If you have a good headset then yes. If you thinking to pair with that altec then nah you wont have much of a difference.

M50 I tried once before. So not really able to tell you whether is it good or not. But the other time I tried on Sony f series I noticed the m50 still lacks bass. Not very sure will it work wonders on the soundcard.
