$100 can get you a 2nd hand soundbar or a better pair of speakers.. think out of the box.. or a single active speaker if all you want is better dialogue.

Agree that $100 can get some decent 2.0 speakers. But if used in the hall, not sure how effective. Also, he said he wanted something with eARC?

Actually what's the use case for eARC on a 2.0? from my limited knowledge, I do not recall any active 2.0 speakers with eARC. At least not within $100.

If budget 100, the only closest speaker comes to mind is creative T40 but it's 150$.

I think we have different expectations. Maybe I am a noob ba. Appreciate if u can explain and share. Today I learn that as long as u have 2 speakers, your system won't sound as bad as the tv. I always mistaken loudness with quality. So the louder the better?
Remember, I noob. Pls be patient if u would like to share.
it is ok to be noob. everyone needs to go through the stage.

but when you are noob, behave as one. don't talk like snobbish expert and give such statement
"The issue with 2.0 is that the dialogue would be as clear and when u crank up the volume for dialogue, it can go boomz suddenly when there's a an impact scene."

Yes sir, noted. Your recommendations with soundbar makes the most sense. We have many learned friends here to contribute to the discussion POSITIVELY.

I am not trying to be a snobbish expert here to mean that 2.0 sux. Based on my noob experience, I do feel that it is not the most ideal implementation for movies. I am highlighting a plausible scenario here, where stereo setup is lacking.

You think otherwise?

For me I aimed for a soundbar because I my tv is in my room and I wanna place it behind my pillows so that I can hear better without cranking up the volume, especially when at night other members of myy family is sleeping.

Then I realized if this it the case, the left and right sound sources would be reflected. And placing the soundbar upside down would be weird.

So I just settled for a set of bluetooth headphones. No need fear moan sounds will leak out of my room too.

No lah. I actually have a pair of TWS buds. Creative ones some more.
In fact, besides these and the headphone I mentioned, I even have bone conduction headphones lol.

Just don't wanna use earbuds cos when I fall asleep, I might wake up and find them out of my ears and dunno roll till where lol.

Another reason I have so many different wearables is because although technically 1 can pair with multiple devices, diconnecting them and connect to the next device are a hit-or-miss at times. So this is how I delegate my devices:

earbuds - tablet and Nintendo Switch (for overall on-the-go multimedia experience)
conduction headphones - smartphone (mainly for exercising)
headphones - smart tv (to not disturb my brother and sister-in-law, especially late night, and also to secretly watch AV channels)

better use one with ANC, so that your brother and sister-in-law don't disturb you late night.

Looking at the LG SP2 soundbar that has built-in subwoofer as space is a constraint.

Any other recommendations for soundbar with built-in subwoofer? I saw the Sony S100F/S200F but the model is pretty old, not sure if it's still worth considering..
