Just buy SBZ and be done with it.

Mine has lasted 10 years (bought it at launch to replace my A2ZS) and still going strong. That's like 20 dollars per year? Lol

Are you an Audiophile? If yes then you will need much much better ones. If you are just using for normal usage, nowadays onboard sounds is pretty ok.

I'm using sbz, satisfy with it's games and multimedia performance. I'm also curious about difference between
sbz and sbz se sound card.

you can try Creative s-xi series but the surround is "artifical"

I think the real difference can only be easily spotted if you are using optical output for speakers.

Maybe due to fake surround sound reproduce by DSP. Can't expect too much from soundcard.
For true surround, the source need to be encoded with surround and decoded with real surround processor.

I think the real difference can only be easily spotted if you are using optical output for speakers.

Optical sound alot better than analog and with decent source, sound equipments, speakers and power supply.
It produce stunning audio performance. Can be addicted to it. But you can't expect too much from souncard
to achieve that.
The point is decent souncard has it's own processor and d/a converter, it offload the cpu workload.
