Soundcard Recommendations?

Hi All

Using an onboard Realtek sound chip now. Mobo is Asrock A350B PRO4, Ryzen 5 1600, and speakers are Edifiers R1700BT, connected with Monster iCables.

Most listening is music, movies and games like Diablo3, Total War

Am considering to get a soundcard to get the most out of my set up. But decent priced.

Any recommendations? Perhaps those Asus Sonars?

can you really feel the different between onboard realtek and this? How to connect it? Is it from USB motherboard? Thanks!

Soundcard will sound better than onboard.
Either Creative internal like Z series
Or Creative external soundcard like xfi digital music.

onboard pci-e or external?

if internal, connect best via RCA or the 3.5mm jack to active speakers?

if external - its connected to pc/laptop via USB? and then connected to the speakers/headphones via a 3.5m too?

External USB is the best.
Internal will have electric interference and noise.

Connect via USB.
Difference depends on your Speakers/Headphones.
If you use extra bass headphones and then turn on extra bass and amp can really feel the difference.

If I am not a bass person but just want good quality sounds, should I still get a DAC?

1) Depends on your sound file quality
2) Depends on your speakers
3) Depends on your ears

Sound is very subjective.
Eg. you play same music from your pc vs your mobile phone to your speakers,
you can feel difference or not.

If I am not a bass person but just want good quality sounds, should I still get a DAC?

If you get external soundcard like SB X-fi digital premium music (Connection is USB)
, connect RCA to RCA to edifier.
Sound quality will improve.
Internal wise, not all have RCA output except Creative high end Z card.

Internal wise will be 3.5mm to RCA cable.
I still recommend External than internal due to EMI noise inside the CPU.

Thanks for the advise.. i think will go for external, as per your reasons - less EMI sound and using RCA is better than 3.5mm

Any decent priced external to recommend? Primarily for stereo use [ not using surround speakers setup ]

SB Digital Music Premium @ $149.
Cheaper models than that I have tested, their SQ isn't that as
good with Digital Music Premium.

now external portable USB DAC + AMP combo can use for PC & Mobile via USB.

Soundblaster g6 will be a better all rounder solution. Can be use on multiple platforms instead of this which can only be used on a PC.

Thanks for advise...but thats too expensive, costs more than my speakers
