The old joke was fusion is always 50 years away.

But jokes aside, in recent years, breakthrough in material, magnetism, containment led some scientists to believe that we should be able to build a commercial fusion reactor by 2045. A plant in 2050. The number of breakthroughs in fusion is reported in many countries , in recent years is almost on a monthly basis, i think this projection is real.

Before seeing MO:

Maybe MO can issue one shot of vodka as "remedy", as used by Soviets.

If war/argument how, and neighbours threaten to bomb nuclear facility? We will forever be pinned down? How have anti bunker bombs too, build underground also not safe.
We can salt and poison their territory by dumping our nuclear waste overflying them. We're likely to have air superiority over them anyway.

Or make our own dirty bombs with said waste.

This is mutually-assured destruction (MAD) without nuclear weapons. Even wind direction also can be in our favour if they were to be mad enough to attack our hypothetical nuclear power plant.

For safety operating in cities and all, SMRs still need to have a buffer zone built in, up to around 20km…..where do we find space to do that?
Why would SMRs need such a large exclusion zone meant for full sized plants? SMRs are meant to be located like how our neighbourhood power substations would be, just outside of it and maybe underground. But you get the point, they'd be dotted all over.

Personally, I don’t mind the idea of nuclear power, but it must be led by a group of accountable leaders—definitely not the current incumbents who constantly hide behind their "no-blame culture." That said, it should also result in lower energy costs for the people. Otherwise, it serves no real purpose for Singaporeans, apart from benefiting businesses that continue to leech off our low-cost environment.

I only have one question, what is your plan for sinkies if there's a nuclear meltdown?
If we're happy with your plan, then u can go ahead build one.

I believe for a period of time Singapore is adamant against building casinos, but this all change when PM Lee come to power and unfortunately cause some social issues…

i believe this issue is the same… and we only can hope for the best

i'm just amazed at how in 2 decades we went from.
learning about photosynthesis in pri sch and how Greenhouses are pumped full of CO2 to fertilize plants.....to now thinking of CO2 as a pollutant that is going to somehow destroy the world in a few years(according to "scientists" in the early 2000s....Singapore should be under water by 2014 already).

remember?
1970s = global ice age coming
1980s = acid rain gonna kill all plants
1990s = ozone layer hole gonna give everybody skin cancer
2000s = global warming
today = climate change(covers everything)

basic science have been destroyed in the name of money(carbon tax that goes into unaccountable black holes run by unelected folks) and control.

Likely gonna be a modular reactor at that pricing space constraint. Not gonna be anything too huge I guess. Are they gonna build molten salt base ?

like this gg

they will go ahead with this nuclear thing 100%
they have zero regards for the citizens because first thing they do is evacuate themselves first if anything goes wrong

IT will not be cheaper. They will say prices will remain more stable. And yes, the nuclear energy proposal is to benefit biz cuz they need so much energy Sg cannot provide.

This policy is not to benefit sinkies directly. It is to benefit biz and ofcuz the PAP who leech tax from them.

Simi evacuate, things will be worse before it gets to that stage.

U will start seeing PAP raising special taxes to feed the nuclear mistakes theyake. Cuz nuclear is irreversible, not like casino can shut down.

Citizens must live in a certain way , be guinea pigs to PAP to show case the feasibility of nuclear power deployment in small build up urban area, and transfer the know how to other countries. We guinea pigs dun even get paid to be study subjects.

Rast time peepur say EV is clean energy, end up it pollutes more than ICE cars. And is relatively cleaner if they are used in a certain way.

Now even more far fetched is to say nuclear is clean energy because it doesn't involve carbon. What Abt the waste that cannot be destroyed? PAP wants others to start pointing to these radioactive wastes are dirty then they will start acknowledging the dirtiness of this technology.

No doubt it will satisfy PAP 's profilgacy towards energy consumption everywhere... Nuclear is not clean.
everything is clean....

until it start to leak...

the leakage for oil, we can send volunteer to clean....if radioactive leakage....gg wp....

even u fully suit up, u not safe from radioactive one
