Note that there are some sleeper service flights, which gives lesser service. Depends if you want to enjoy the service, then day flights would be better.

I for one, would prefer day flights as I cant really sleep on the plane, prefer to sleep on proper bed.

Personal preference I guess. As I usually shuttle between the States and back, I've grown to be used to sleeping on a plane. The F/R products on SQ are perfectly fine for me to catch up to 8 hours of sleep at once. Their J products are decent, although I really dislike the new J seats on their A359s due to the small foot cubby. As a result I will prefer redeye flights as flying on a day flight will mean adding 2 more days to my trips.

I guess if you're taking the flight to 'experience' the F/J products then sure go for a day flight, as some sleeper services don't offer the full F meal. After this much flying, I don't see an F meal to be special anymore, and any decent restaurant beats any airline meal hands down.

Guys....I just converted some points to krisflyer and closed my citi acc.

How do you normally buy/sell the krisflyer and what's the market rate?
I don't have any intention to travel so I've about 140,527 miles for sale.
Appreciate your advice.

Hard to sell.
Normally is ask around see whether there are people flying on certain days then just redeem the flight ticket using miles and get money from that person. Can buy for up to 5 other people if I din remember wrongly.

I have never done it before, my own miles already not enough. THere are people who doing this due to superb miles accumulation.

I normally can sleep super well on moving vehicles, include buses, trains and planes.:D

Or they don't fly premium cabins, so it's better to cash out for 2cpm and purchase discounted economy tickets for less than 2cpm.

You guys are the lucky ones, can sleep when you want to.

Also, travelling with kids is another thing altogether. Flew with my son on redeye and he refused to sleep, so one adult had to stay awake to look after him. The adult reached destination like a zombie with a sleeping kid in tow, lucky was with tour group, so just hop on the bus and sleep.

After that, if have to take redeye (due to vastly cheaper flight), we'd book the accommodation 1 day earlier, so reach at like 6 or 8am, can check in and sleep with the kids first, before proceeding with the tour fresher. As always, travel with young kids, you will sleep after the kids sleep, so definitely get much less rest than sleeping from take-off to landing.

I don't have kids myself, but one recommendation from my colleagues was to keep them awake in the day time. This way they will naturally be tired and fall asleep on the flight. I guess it only works for slightly older kids (they were 5 and 7), I assume there's no way you can control an infant's sleep cycle. Nothing gets worse than a crying baby 8 hours into a 12 hours flight :x

Haha, fly and travel while you can without kids, esp premium classes. Now I need 4 tickets already, already very hard to get 4 J tickets, how to get 4 F tickets?

My strategy is to spilt flights. 1 adult and 1 child on each flight. Then cross wait list. It will usually clear and everyone on the same flight. Just pay the cancellation charge.

Anyone tried to redeem flights through sia app.

There is always an error message when I tried to book 2 adults and 1 child 2-11. Keeps saying if the return flight is after his or her 12th birthday. It will be adult.

When I type ok, back to starting page.

For 2-11 is it just 75% of adult krisflyer miles needed ?

For redemption child tickets, it's 100% Krisflyer miles if I recall correctly.

Can always call in. They are very efficient in doing bookings. :)

Could you explain the benefits of calling than online? Easier to find seats (just tell them to find for you?) Or when you need to do multileg or something?

With the removal of online discount, calling in is now the better option for me as my tickets can be more flexible.

Pretty much any redemption other than a directly available flight. Searching for availability is also easier, as the SQ engine is terrible for flex date searches. Also, certain tickets cannot be issued online, such as multiple stopovers, open jaw and partner airlines, for example. The only incentive left to book online is probably 4mpd on the taxes.

The SQ automated system to enter CC number is considered offline booking is it?

I would think so, but I have no confirmation on this. Will be making my first phone redemption next month, perhaps I'll try and find out. An alternative would be to get an US issued Amex plat, where it gives 5x points for airfare. This works both for online and offline.

Confirmed it's offline payment. I had booked such tickets before.

What is the best CC to use for SQ offline payment, in terms of earning miles? Thanks!
