Recently wanted to confirm a J redemption for ARN and can't pay the tickets because passport validity was < 6 mths.. was thrown back to the main screen. Called the CSO to confirm it was indeed the passport issue.

Congrats on your waitlist clearing! But the notion of waitlisting for another flight while not having enough miles is new to me, maybe they had a change of policy. I can waitlist for multiple dates using the same block of miles, but never waitlist for another flight while holding a confirmed ticket without needing additional miles.

I could waitlist multiple flights without having sufficient miles in my KF account. Normal status. PM if you want to know how to do it & thanks for all the sharing!

Haha, that is if they can sleep on their own seat themselves. Mine either need to be carried or need to half support them when they sleep. Now comes my problem with my SIN - SFO flight, since it departs like 9am, for like 12+ hours. It will be day time for them and not sleep that much, until they arrive at like 9am. Then I'd have dead sleeping kids upon arrival.

Another thing that I tend to do, is I tend to bring their car seats onboard. Most decent car seats are flight safe (check and check to reconfirm) and kids who are strictly car seat trained would have a high level of familiarity of sleeping in the seats.

Hi all,

I have 2 questions.

1) If let say I want to cancel a flight which I booked on miles, How much is the cancellation fee now? still 50 USD?

2) If I have a flight to City A, My flight to there is ticketed, but my flight back is on waitlist and I didn't manage to clear the waitlist before I even fly, when is the last day I can cancel both flights and whats is the cancellation fee?

1. 30USD, 15USD if you have any kind of status (even silver).

2. You can cancel the waitlist anytime as long as you did not issue the ticket. If it stays waitlisted throughout, it will be automatically cancelled when the flight you waitlisted for departs. For issued tickets, it will be 30/15USD up till 24 hours before departure, or 75USD within 24 hours of departure.

If I have 2 tickets booked under the same ref number. My cancellation fee will it be USD $30 or $60?

Car seat means you have to pay for a child ticket.

I suppose your kids are over 2 years ?

LOL, most car seat I see for sale in SG, are not flight certified. I've only seen 1 or 2 models for sale in SG, that are flight certified. In fact, I went down to like OG, and asked about FAA approved car seats, the salesperson said no, then I checked all for sale and nothing was FAA approved. Went down to some baby warehouse sale thing, and only 1 model has the flight certified logo and I think it was their most expensive model.

Other things to consider for bringing car seat onto plane, is the space, especially if you are taking economy. First is the lateral space, most car seats are quite wide. The adult sitting beside might have lesser shoulder space. Second is the seat pitch, if you did not get a bulkhead row, the person in front reclines, it is already quite near for us adults, it would be even lesser space for a child with a car seat. Lastly, will be your transport upon arrival, will it be convenient or are you taking public transport and the carrying of the car seat during transit, if any?

I've not flown with a car seat, so these are all just pointers I can think of, not the actual experience.

car seat is heavy n bulky. but better as during turbulence will not b disturbed

Not much help I guess, if the seat belts are tightened well and doing their job.

You'd have to check with the airline if that business class seat can fit the car seat. Also, nowadays, SQ business class seats folds out to a bed (not those press button kind). Do you still need the less comfortable car seat in business, if it inhibits the ability to fold into a bed?

Is there any way to check upgrade award availability before committing to the original flight purchase first?

Not sure if J availability for upgrade from PE is same as J award redemption.

It should be the same, at least for Krisflyer on SQ.

SQ J upgrade books into I class, which is the same as award redemption.

My plan was to find an empty business seat and put the car seat there.

My plan was to find an empty business seat and put the car seat there.

Please see https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/travel-info/special-assistance/travelling-with-children/

Excerpts from the website:
While booster seats, vests and harness-type child restraint devices are not permitted on board, you’re welcome to use approved car-type child safety seats and FAA-approved child harnesses for children under 3 years of age.

...

FAA-approved child harnesses can also be used on our flights. However, AmSafe’s Child Aviation Restraint System (CARES) child harness may not fit in some of our First and Business Class seats. For details, get in touch with your local Singapore Airlines office.

I'm just going to let the kids sit on the Business class seat/bed instead of having the car seat, as you'd have no place to put the car seat (if business is full) and let the child sleep on the bed.

Edited:
Just re-read your comment. If I'm understanding this right, you are going to pay infant fare, then bring the car seat on board to put on a (hopefully) empty seat, which you did not pay for?

They probably would not permit you to bring it on the plane.
The passenger seat will be charged at a child’s fare.
It will be a child's fare (comes with a seat) and not infant fare (bassinet only).

Edited2: You are putting the infant in business class also right? You're aware of the person who put 1 adult in business, and 1 adult+1 child in economy, and wanted to bring the child up to business but was denied?
