Amazon Prime SG (International)

Samsung 970 EVO 1 TB (M.2) - S$386

WD Black 1 TB (M.2) - S$403

Can buy? International warranty?? :D

The WD Black looks interesting. Quite highly rated for power efficiency :)

Businesses that are cost inefficient pass down their high cost to consumers. Why should consumers bear the consequence of incompetent businesses?
Continue to charge high prices, let natural selection weed them out.

Honestly pricing can be good if u look at the right drives. There are many ecommerce sites in SG now, compare each of them and find the best value.

Personally just bought crucial mx500 1tb for 200$ from shopee to replace my 500gb hdd in my laptop. Cheaper than amazon, same real world performance as a 970 evo.

Imo its hard to justify the high prices of these drives anyway.

I personally think that SSD prices drop is mainly the TLC made SSDs, or rather the smaller capacity ones. Just hoping that TLC SSDs such as Samsung NVME 970 EVO 1tb would drop further for more people to adopt this drive.

I am not so interested in Samsung SSDs now. In fact, ADATA XPG SX8200 seems more interesting and affordable.

Nice reasoning there. And hence why close to no one will ever buy large-volume SSDs from local resellers :s8: So you tell me: who wins in this case?

Option A: The consumer who can simply turn to Amazon even though shipping may take a week or more

or

Option B: The local reseller who INSISTS on charging a 70% markup and ends up not selling ANY of his stock at all, leading to a overall loss since he cant sell his stock of SSDs?

So just because SSDs are a niche product, its LOGICAL to be charging 70% markups even though its painfully, no, BLATANTLY obvious that we can get it cheaper elsewhere? What sort of nonsense argument is that?

Its like Best Denki selling Dell laptops at 4000 SGD when Dell.com.sg sells it at 2000 SGD online. Best Denki has the advantage of having a physical presence and shorter and cheaper shipping. But no one bothers buying from Best Denki

Best Denki realises they're making a loss since NO ONE buys their laptops that they ordered from the supplier, Dell. So instead of charging a small markup like say, 300$, they CONTINUE selling at 4000$, go bankrupt and then blame it on the consumers. Stupid hor?

Would You rather sell your stock that you already bought from the supplier and have on hand at a small markup that's REASONABLE and at least make some money or be an idiot and persist in selling that stock at a price that NO SANE PERSON WILL BUY AT? and basically be stuck with a full inventory of stock you cant sell?

Local retailers have the advantage of(for some) a physical store to browse and collect goods at, and a much shorter and cheaper delivery time. You charge me a reasonable markup for that, I'm more than willing to pay.
Actually it depends on the person. Just last month I have a friend who wanted to upgrade his 970 as it's liquid damaged by his leaking liquid cooler from the CPU pipe and I told him that I could help him get 1070ti from lazada for 500+ near 600. He didn't want to wait 2 days for the delivery and went to SLS and bought it from the shop there and paid $700+ for it along with a 1TB SSD around $300. Asked him why he bought the SSD that's so ex, his reply was "can claim from company so don't care as long as i maximised the value". I could've easily saved him $200 or more if gotten from LAZADA(don't say amazon since he isn't even willing to wait for 2 days)

I'm looking a M2 SSD for myself as all my SATA ports are used up. Camping for cheap 1TB on BF from amazon :s13:
My cheapest SSD was from qoo10 Korean seller. Paid $47 for a 240GB wd green. Even cheaper than my $110 525GB MX300.

bought mx500 1tb @ 204$. given the price that the evo is at, i will pick crucial everytime.

Performs just as you would expect from a ssd, everything is instant.

I will give my vote to whichever is cheaper between MX500 and Samsung Evo. WD Blue, I am not too sure even though it is pretty much a Sandisk SSD.

Normal users wont benefit much from NVME. Unless your work involves regular large file transfers, the speed won't be much of a difference, for now. Game engines like UE4 are beginning to rely more and more on drive speeds, so we might see NVMEs begin to become consumer-relevant when future games run better on faster drives.
