Er.. not 1.4 miles meh ?

As such, under this Rewards Promotion, VI Cardholders are eligible to earn a total of 1.4 miles (3.5 Rewards Points) for every $1 spent in local currency

(I only have DBS Altitude and Citibank Prestige.. both seemed to be (slightly) lower than this ?)

But you need to clock minimum $2000 spending per calendar month to get 1.4 mile per dollar or else it’s still 1 miles per $1

Btw, does the SCB Priority VI card has additional points for overseas spend? Thinking of whether to use my DBST black Amex ( which has double points for overseas spend ) or this card for my business trips.

Also do such cards give higher probability of getting free room upgrade? Coz back when I was in Jakarta's Doubletree Hilton, booking was done by our coy frontdesk for the same room types for both me and my boss.

I got free room upgrade but not him. Not sure if my DBST amex gave me this privilege ( coz they normally need your CC for the deposit during checkin ).

Visit airport lounges when flying in and out through Singapore Changi Airport.

Airport Lounges are mostly after immigration.

List of Singapore Changi Airport Lounges under Priority Pass programme can be located at this website.

every month, I have more than $2k which I can charge to SCB Visa Infinite via cardup (payroll for biz user)

Is it worth it to pay 2.6% as I don't travel long haul. If I redeem for short get away economy class and considering that I always wait for airline promotion to buy air ticket so is it worth it?

Thanks

If you hit $2k per month easily like me, quite useful.

Economy class is definitely not very good value for redemption, not hard to do the math

As to worth it or not, it depends on how you value the miles. For a $2k transaction, you pay $52 and get 2872 miles. That's like $0.018 per mile. Some people on this forum are willing to pay the annual fees of cards for miles at $0.02 per mile.

Not sure what you consider short getaway. So I'm taking SIN - HKG. That's 30k miles for roundtrip economy redemption. That is like $540 based on $0.018 per mile, excluding taxes. If you get promo ticket, currently it states to be "from $258". So you would be better off not using cardup, if you redeem for economy class. At $258 ticket, this works out to $0.0086 per mile.

However, if you redeem for business class, then it is 55k miles for SIN - HKG business class roundtrip or $990 of fees, this would be a better value for money as the fares run up to more than $2k?

Lastly, if you redeem for economy class it is often best not to "pay" for miles, or reduce your cost for miles when you "pay" for them, so the cost has to be below $0.0086 per mile if you are to "pay" for your miles. For example, if I charge $150 to my VI card with the Christmas promo (now fully redeemed), I pay $3.90 in fees, but I get a cashback of at least $2, which reduces the fees by more than half (or even more). This greatly reduces the cost per mile I pay.

HI all

for those with the Priority Banking version of the SC VI, can the fees be waived without issue? Or is SC a stickler about the fees?

One RM told me that she has never heard of any of her PB clients being charged the annual fee, but when i chekced with another RM, she told me that SC only waives the fee if you spend a certain amt on the card.

Mine is the 6-visit VI, spent like $100k last year, no waiver.
