I got some "bonus interest for August" credited on top of the usual. Not sure what thus is for as the usual "exclusive bonus interest" is usually credited around 20th of the month.

On 8 Jul, my RM finally phoned me to say that my account will not be closed, though I still refused to disclose my salary/assets :s13:

Say only :s22: :s13:

That's after 2 webmails on 12 Jun and 19 Jun and an email on 6 Jul through their feedback channel.

Frankly, lousy service and the Manager whom I addressed the mail to care less to response.

Really say only :s13::s13:

My RM confirmed my account will be as per normal and will not be closed on 2 Aug as indicated in their earlier letter and asked me for specific doc and that would suffice. I sent without delay.

End of Aug I tried transferring fund into my esaver, it was not successful and my remitting bank told me to refer to the receiving bank. Called SCB and was informed to change the bank code to that of SCB (Singapore) Pet Ltd and it should be fine.

Last nite, again tried to deposit money into SCB and again not successful. Call the bank and it has the courtesy to say that my account has been locked (without even informing me). What f service :s22:

Told the f bank they should have closed my account unilaterally on 2 Aug as indicated on their letter instead of putting customer in suspense without any communication or decision on their part. And f to the staff who told me to change the bank code without telling me that the account is locked.

Then they got a duty to inform or report to MAS.

I felt bad dressing down the staff who called me yesterday when it should be the manager who signed the letter and avoided replying to my 2 mails.

RM called me on 8 Aug to say my account is as per normal and I can ignore their letter on closure. But quietly behind me, the locked my account and I never knew until I wanted to perform a transaction.

Bank have their own procedures. But it is their fault for not informing u it is locked. Just bring your business elsewhere, now isavvy better for 4 mths.

:s13: Most of the time I used it as a transient account because of 200k limit, same as POSB and Maybank.

How is ADB calculated for fall below fee?
If I empty my account for 2 months, then 2 months later put in money will they deduct the fall below fee?

or is it just per month?

i think it's common practice to lock your account for protection if it stays idle for a period.

it happened for me for ocbc, citibank too. so just do transfer first day of each other to prevent that from happening

they should implement features to notify us few days before locking.

Then they got a duty to inform or report to MAS.

I was switching between this and MB every 2 months until I learn more about HSBC EGA acct 3 mths ago. So I'm posting this in case some of you may be like me who are just semi looking and may not be able to follow all the threads/banks offerings and missed this.

HSBC offers base of 0.35%. Additional 2% for up to 2m. That's 2.35% already.
If you spend $800 on their debit card...another 2% on your first $100k.
Also, another 1.8% on yr 1st 100k if you convert $5k to a foreign currency. Eventhough there are foreign transaction fee, you still gain $70 - $80.

Not only that, you get another $400 cash if you hold $200k for 3 months with them. Also, you get another $250 Taka vouchers when you deposit $200k during their roadshow!

I didn't calculate the interest but I suspect it might be over 4% in total.
I thought there is a catch and asked my RM. She says no, they just hope I will stay with them and buy some funds and products along the way. After 3 months now, it's true and I have not purchase any products from them yet, no hard-sell. I might now if I can't find anything over 3%. Just thought I share as I've benefited from many here. You may PM me if you have questions but I may not respond quickly.

Hi thank you for your advice, indeed HSBC looks good but I do not meet their monthly salary credit. Is it ok to place $30 000 to HSBC advance without doing anything and just get their debit card? What will be the interest like? Thanks in advance.

just to note that HSBC EGA "extra" interest is very late, it is 2 months after end of the month. So June "extra" interest will only credit in Sep, and my spend credit has not in till now.
