I was switching between this and MB every 2 months until I learn more about HSBC EGA acct 3 mths ago. So I'm posting this in case some of you may be like me who are just semi looking and may not be able to follow all the threads/banks offerings and missed this.

HSBC offers base of 0.35%. Additional 2% for up to 2m. That's 2.35% already.
If you spend $800 on their debit card...another 2% on your first $100k.
Also, another 1.8% on yr 1st 100k if you convert $5k to a foreign currency. Eventhough there are foreign transaction fee, you still gain $70 - $80.

Not only that, you get another $400 cash if you hold $200k for 3 months with them. Also, you get another $250 Taka vouchers when you deposit $200k during their roadshow!

I didn't calculate the interest but I suspect it might be over 4% in total.
I thought there is a catch and asked my RM. She says no, they just hope I will stay with them and buy some funds and products along the way. After 3 months now, it's true and I have not purchase any products from them yet, no hard-sell. I might now if I can't find anything over 3%. Just thought I share as I've benefited from many here. You may PM me if you have questions but I may not respond quickly.

Bonus interest is only for 3mths right ? After that how? Need to merry go round to another bank for 1 mth then back ?

Hi thank you for your advice, indeed HSBC looks good but I do not meet their monthly salary credit. Is it ok to place $30 000 to HSBC advance without doing anything and just get their debit card? What will be the interest like? Thanks in advance.

Hi, excuse the late reply.
From my understanding, there is not much difference between Advance and Premier except that the welcome vouchers is $100.
You still earn 2% up to 2m
spend $800 on debit card to earn another 2%.
The other difference is the foreign currency earn is 1% for Advance and $1.8% for premier. But nevermind about that, just forgo the 1%. I only did that just once out of the 3 months anyway.

There is no monthly salary credit needed I think.
Just prepare a cheque of 30k and hop over to the roadshow participating branches.
I do not check on this thread often.
You may get more help from the HSBC thread from the other experts there:)
They may even offer to refer you and pass on some referrer fees back to you:)

Good Luck.

just to note that HSBC EGA "extra" interest is very late, it is 2 months after end of the month. So June "extra" interest will only credit in Sep, and my spend credit has not in till now.

Yes, I should have that detail in my post too, in case that might be an issue for some:)

use 2 names for merry go around the same bank

Yes, I didn't know we could be so obvious here:)

This is legitimate. Have 2 accounts with same name is not legitimate, some people managed to open the second acct online because there is a loophole in the system. Then someone went to "blame" the counter staff for not telling the correct bank procedures, ie can open 2 accounts under same name.

Now u know what happened :s13:

My Esaver base interest rate already has exclusivity of 1.7% for 100k. My interest is about 200++ 'each month' without any min debit/credit spent. It's adding the bonus and exclusive bonus as well . In a quarter, it earns up to $800++ for me.

Generally I will transfer funds btw SC and MB. This will come in Later with MB rate of 2% and 2.1% until Dec 2019

Addon - there's no credit rebates/points for HSBC debit card. So its a minus.

hsbc dc has no rebates but it offer around 15% cc equivalent rebate based on 2% bonus for $100k deposit with $800 spend. That beats any rebate card on market.

i can guarantee hsbc ega give the best in market with 2.35% base and 2% bonus int on cc with $250 taka roadshow voucher thrown in.

For $100K you get about $1300+ per quarter

0.35% base only for amt above $500K, below that $100k-499k is 0.2%, tiered base rates below. The 2% bonus apply to full sum with no other criteria, basically works like esavers. With the $250 roadshow vouchers its much better to put in hsbc vs scb, the 90d roadshow lock in reconcile with 3M bonus interest period so no opportunity costs.

The convert and dc spend bonus is also very good, basically free for you to take.
