modern AAA games are currently polluted by microtransactions.
this is a transitional period. but as much as we don't want it.
the war is already over. we have lost the microtransaction war.

to me the long playtime needed to unlock certain content is okay. its your choice. don't like it. don't preorder/buy the game. don't set that as a target if you don't see yourself playing the game for 40 hours.

it sounds liked gamers jus wanna play the game quick quick obtain certain content then quickly sell it back and move on. microtransactions/virtual currencies are inserted to combat the 2nd hand market. EA want your money. jus liked any other big companies.

me myself. i don't buy EA games. after they have serial killed off some of my fav studios.
if you read how EA shut down Visceral Games, you know how they see their games. they want the next gravity gun in their game.

Developers are the one that design the microtransaction hooks.

In all cases, the development leadership decides the best way to maximize profitability for games. In extreme cases, there is a pub mandate to put in mechanics to ensure max profitability, but the way the mechanics work and the specifics (drop rate, pricing) are all developer led

You know those surprise eggs (with disney tie-ins toys) you get for the kids? Lower chances for the main or popular characters. Do those constitute gambling? I think those reddit people are barking up the wrong tree.

EA needs to pay Disney a substantial amount for the IP. They have to earn back somehow.

thanks to indie mobile game and their free-to-play model. when you see Clash of Clans earning 3mil on a daily basis of course every company wanted the same

EA has removed the refund button from their customer portal. Hoping people will just give up canceling because of the 60+ minute wait time to live shat support.
https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBa.../ea_has_removed_the_refund_button_from_their/

Gamespot purchases $100 worth of loot crates, ends up with less than half the amount of credits needed to unlock Darth Vader and Luke. 40 hours or $260 to unlock one of the main characters in Star Wars.

Update: As pointed out by PCGamesN, it appears the refund button is disabled for all pre-orders on EA’s Origin store – not just for Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

While EA does indeed offer refunds for up to seven days after a pre-ordered game launches, the refund button only appears once the game is out. This means that anybody who wants to cancel their pre-order will have to go through the customer support chat by default.

Or alternatively, wait for the refund button to show up once Battlefront 2 launches officially on November 17.

i guess fact checking is hard.
