Hi all, I just subscribed to the 100mbps plan today and was told that I can continue to use my existing voice modem for the digital voice. That means that it is not connected to the fiber modem.
Is this possible or I have been conned by the sales person?

Yes, it's possible, there are other (myself included) who opt for this setup.

I had that digital voice service before, that when it was offered at no cost (Early 2009)
Its basically a phone line service run via the coaxial network (totally diff from Fiber), using a voice-enabled broadband modem (home phone line connection only, no data-based Internet connection)

I chose running my home phone service via Fiber as to save power from operating lesser devices... :D

Ok thanks alot. Apart from having another equipment and more energy usage, I guess that's not so much downside. My main concern is that of the Dlink modem/router that SH is giving. It may not have good enough coverage to the bedrooms. So I am thinking of getting the Asus N56 and hopefully can resolve this problem.

Has anyone managed to get the 66U working ?

Using the various bits of information here on posts I managed to get a connection on my 66u to the ONT. IP address and DNS information came through fine. Using Plainum the VLAN id is 1078

The problem I have is that I can browse to any external websites. I thought it was DNS rfelated so I spent a good 2 hours playing with different settings and DNS servers.

But I'm not sure it is DNS as I realised I can ping a server (i.e. ping google.com) and I will get a response (about 5ms). But when I try to surf to google.com it times out.

I've tried disabling the firewall and moving the PC into the DMZ with no success.

Any ideas from anyone ? I'm using the latest 66u firmware, 3.0.0.3.112

.... since u can ping then it should be DNS just set it as auto.

Yes, that's what has me confused. I can ping so that indicates the DNS server settings are configured fine, but I can't browse anywhere.
