Sian, previously on SingTel, port over to giga! today. Then find out iMessage keep saying “Waiting for activate”.

so the only solution is port out?
Wa lao, cannot be one day only port out liao.

If I really port out, how much I have to pay? First month bill?

Yeah this sucks so bad. I think quite a number of us starving for iMessage activation. Contacting giga is like wasting time apparently. They almost have no intelligent being behind their facets.
Btw You already paid for your first month. Same as you I tot of leaving on 2nd day of the sub. The fastest abandon ship experience after trying so many telcos.

Same issue. My old iphone 12 was activated with imessage on Giga.

On my new iphone 13 the imessage cant be activated. think GIGA blocks international SMS and there are no options to add on international SMS like grid.



Not sure why apple cant setup a imessage gateway in Singapore. So we don't need to sent a SMS to UK to activate.

Actually I dont understand why there are many complains for Giga. I switched from SH plan, price is about the same but now I get way more talktime and data on Giga. Network coverage doesnt affect me much so far, I guess because I dont travel alot of places, just work and home

I mean that’s good for you. Really I mean it.
The reason some of us or at least me is for iOS user. Using FaceTime/iMessage experience is one of the best experience I have as an iOS user.
The clarity of FT audio call is superb and low lag. Compared to google duo, WhatsApp call, even better than VoLTE imo.
For FaceTime video the experience is great with way higher but rate resulting is better video quality, iMessage does no compression photo sending too which I appreciate at Os level. And many more

i use it these at very regular basis. If I’ve known giga doesn’t even support that I would not have port in at all.
Honestly if anyone doesn’t have my requirement it’s a great value plan with nice compromise coverage and speed when compared to m1 which is cheap but slow, and to Singtel which is fast but expensive by a couple of dollars.

I’ll hold this plan to the end of my billing cycle unless it’s resolved.

If you still have your iphone 12 around, insert the Giga sim card back into it and try again. iMessage & FT working on my 6S+ with Giga card. So it may not be solely Giga issue.

I mean that’s good for you. Really I mean it.

The only solution here is port out, to those with global SMS like grid or main telco sim only.

I’m wondering whether will this work:
1) Wait till end of giga billing cycle
2) Port over to telco SIM (without contract)
3) Activate iMessage
4) Port back to giga, activate SIM upon delivered, take out giga sim and put back (2) SIM card
5) Wait till (2) get cut off then insert back giga SIM card

my problem here is I insert giga sim too early. This cause in my iPhone using the temporary number & result in iMessage not recognising my main number

the customer service extended by giga is an absolute joke, it's embarrassing.
if you're facing issues with iMessage/FaceTime activation, do consider porting out. you lose out on the 1st month but gain a lot of sanity trying to resolve this problem.
i knew giga was a red flag when their app looks like hot garbage compared to circles/gomo.

I’m using iPhone 12 Pro. Got 2 giga sim ported in this week. One in ip12 another in iphone7. Both also cannot. Both on iOS 15. For test I even disable iMessage on my Singtel prepaid and test on the 2 same phones and it’s working for both work. Just not giga!

You are correct. I thought I have Giga SIM in my 6S+ but actually it is a CMLink SIM...

Just tried with the Giga SIM on 6S+ and it couldn't activate

Unable to active iMessage super deal breaker to me. Worse doesnt seem they will be fixing it soon.

I'm going over to gomo. Initially from ST so cant enjoy the 50GB for $20 promo. Since now I'm under giga, I'll port over. Everything the same (50GB/500min talktime) just additional $2 more per month but it support iMessage activation.

Same here. Not able to activate iMessage is a deal breaker. Anyway, I ported to MR on their eSIM service now. I would say not bad.

However, I am waiting for the day for Singtel to start supporting eSIM and I will go back. All it takes is Apple to be courageous and remove the ***** physical SIM slot.

I got problem with Google message/rcs, can activate on giga but whatever message/photo I sent will be stuck at sending, but somehow can receive messages from Google message(Singtel).
End up have to keep it disabled otherwise will have problem sending sms to user that have Google message/rcs activated...
