The prob is that the MNP is offering better package than the MVNO.

M1 is having $17 sim-only plan no contract, 77GB, free weekend data & caller id 6 months (port-in), 1000 sms and mins calls. With this kind of plan, why one needs to go to Gomo or Giga.

Even if one really wants to go for MVNOs, my republic mobile has a much better plan of $17 50GB perpetual. It is in full suite, can make roaming outgoing call etc.
If they remain noncompetitive as mentioned, they will go out of business before long, just like GRID, Zero Mobile etc.

Let it be, consumers will choose provider according to their needs and Dawin's Law of natural selection usually prevails.

Well if you don't care about coverage, you can definitely choose M1.

But Giga (Starhub) or Gomo (Singtel) have better coverage than M1.

Just saying: As someone always said 便宜没好货 (cheap doesn't means good).

i had changed from starhub -> singtel -> m1 now. i used all their sim-only plans. so far so good. none of them is extremely worse off than others.

You make a good example with MR.
I would switched already except already been down that road with Circles Life.
M1's network doesn't really work well for me :(
And luckily I don't need iMessage 😅 , so all I am need now is for Giga to activate VOLTE on my phone.

if m1 works for u, then both m1's sim only plan and MR's $17 plan is really a good deal for anyone.
if no, i would rather use singtel or starhub's sim only plan still instead of their own MVNOs' one.

The 6 mths caller ID is a bummer. After that need to pay $5 more

i thought Giga sim only activated after inserting Sim card.

However as i am porting over from Grid, received Giga sim and unopened, within 2 days Grid got disconnected already.
Wanted to activate Giga billing date on a certain day for ease of reference but maybe cause Grid closing down, auto terminate for those who port out.

Giga SIM is only activated after inserting sim card, only in the case where u choose to have a new number and not the port in option.

If u choose the port in option before sign up, then upon delivery of the sim card, the porting will happen in a day or two, regardless of whether u insert the sim card or not.

Yes Kiwi8 is correct.
I applied a new number Giga SIM and activated it before my previous telco contract expires then ported in after contract expired.

Eh any idea when the pop-up plan will come back? Also, can switch to pop-up plan for existing customers or must be new customers?
