I think they just store the activated time to the minute, the value of the second is dropped. Just that if u activate from 0000 hours from 0 second to 59th second) then it's considered 0000 hours lor. So activate at the 30th second of your desired timing is the safest since u are far less likely to kena 30 second lag from the Giga server.

i see. if that's case, it is good. :p

then i will activate at 00:00 + 30 seconds to play safe. haha.

glad that i still have chance to activate on 1st of month as i regretted to choose a delivery date of 29 Nov. haha. although if really cannot get 1st of month is also still ok la. haha.

wow after activation.

12:07am already saw my number ported over. reflected as my no already. nice.

Again as what most complained, iMessage and FaceTime activation did not work.

Two times the SMS sent for the activations but also nothing were done.

Connection is poor at my place. Lagi worse than m1.

Inserted the SIM card, it was connected to 3G straightaway, tot maybe what prob. on airplane mode and off it turned into 4G with one bar. After a while switch back to 3G 3/4 bars and stay on 3G forever.

very disappointed. Speed is even worse than M1.

likely needs to switch back to Singtel already.

update
1:38am: checked again, my imessage and facetime were activated. not too bad.

will try if outdoor connection is ok. if really my place is a blind spot, i may just accept it since at home i will be on fibre broadband.

i ported out from singtel sim only plan (1 year promo price expired) -> m1 sim only plan (promotion price for 6 months only, Caller ID will be charged after 6 months) -> myrepublic mobile (at only $17 for 50GB and on the same M1 network, though will be a good choice but overall coverage, speed and stability are not as good as m1 sim only) -> now trying out giga (on starhub) but who knows the coverage at my place it is the worst among all 3 telcos. :p

my place here:

singtel - 4G (1 to 2 bars), can maintain at 4G no issue and data can still be used despite 1 bar. outdoor so far no issue, no particular blind spot that i can remember.

m1/myrepublic mobile - 4G (2 to 3 bars) - data is usable, but outdoor wise can experience quite some blind spots, for example at springleaf the shoplots inside totally no signal, payar lebar square inside also poor coverage. myrepublic gives me prob whenever I am at outram park mrt and travel along east west line - got strong signal but totally no data. need to restart phone a few and wait for very long before i can get connected with data again. even on and off airplane on my phone also no use.

giga (starhub) - 4G (max 1 bar), i am on 3G consistently, and it kepts on switch between 4G 1 bar and 3G (3 to 4 bars) while 80% of time remain at 3G which is quite irritating. outdoor - yet to experience since this is the first day i ported to giga. if outdoor experience is good, i can still accept the poor coverage at my place, since at home i will be on fibre broadband, at long there is a connection for calls to come in even it is on 3G is ok for me. Else i may need to explore vivifi as an alternative option instead. too bad. miss the 50GB permanent deal for vivifi, hope they are having the same promo in dec also.

Wow your area is so badly covered by all 3 carriers. What about TPG? It might actually surprise you.

My home area, StarHub also keep flip-flop between 3G and LTE, M1 have LTE but data connection not that reliable (field test shows it keeps switching between Band 3/7 and Band 8), TPG signal much stronger (band 8, so speed ain't that good, but at least usable), SingTel is basically unmatched.

But then now I'm leaning towards TPG instead of SingTel for my main line, since roaming have significantly improved, and it's much cheaper.

Like you, I've home Broadband too, so it's fine not to have the fastest service, just make sure no service problems and I'm okay hahaha.

But I do have M1/CL as supplementary lines, in places where TPG is weak.
Blame eSIM support (or lack thereof) for 3 out of 4 carriers, if not I'll be using Zero1 6u right now as main line and TPG as supplementary/data line.

yes, poor covered in door at my place for all the 3 telcos so far, and starhub now is known to be the worst among all.

TPG i had tried before. the signal is also around 1 to 2 bars at my place but still usable like singtel or m1.
however, will not be considering to use TPG still for voice, it requires the use of VoLTE, i am not if my iphone X can use straightaway?

i still prefer the traditional 3 telcos anyway.

at least a good news now to all who are planning to sign up giga and are iPhone users that the imessage and facetime activations work now and they only require local SMSes to be sent.

Anyway to stop this message from popping up every time I check the remaining data? Super irritating.

iPhone X, as long as it's the Intel modem units, can just enable in settings for TPG, from iOS 13 onwards.
Also, APN might need to be added, but all these are one-off.

Intel modem iPhone is sold globally, only exception is CDMA units (not sold here).

Can see Apple's website for the model numbers that's CDMA, not GSM units.

Then Singapore sold iPhone X is confirmed not supported?
Forget it. Too troublesome to use TPG. Just stick to Singtel maybe.

dun know if I can really stand the 3G only connection at my place.
Will consider to switch to vivifi if needed.

hi recently converted Starhub pricey CIS plan to Starhub SIM Only plan . While comparing Giga with Starhub SIM only plan , didnt see much difference .

I wonder any performance difference between this Giga and Starhub SIM only as both are from Starhub netweork

I am now subcribing to the $20 Plan, the deal seems good , 80GB for 3 months , 60GB for 9 months. And with Unlimited Call ( 1 Year) , 1000 SMS.. + $5 for Caller Display ( Forced to pay.)

After switching to the new SIM Only plan, I hardly connect to my home WIFI network since data are plenty . This is helping me to save battery life and performance wise , I dont see the difference comparing to the old CIS plan. No observation of longer latency .

In future may switch to the lower cost MVNO network , since I am now with no contract, Work from Home.. Big Mobile data is for fun only... I am kind of being forced to change plan , expired but price plan maintained at $50, with much less data in the bundle..

No brainer

$20 + $5 caller id = $25 per month u are paying now?
giga is actually more worth it at $18 only for 50GB data.

Yes $5 for the Caller ID, total $25 .
I am worrying on Data Roaming and the MVNO support I have no experience of it .
Therefore, making the switch to Starhub SIM only with proper Customer support model first .
I dont mind to pay the additional few dollars for the better support .

Next step may move over to MVNO like Giga.

Just curious to find out any performance difference.

I just received my giga sim card with new number. I plan to use the number now but activating it later around 12am. Does the billing cycle begin from the time I put in the sim card into my phone or the app activation time?

i am not sure if it will be activated immediately when you put in ur sim card.

however, if u activate from the app or web by clicking the activation button, it will follow the time u click the button.

Refer to above posts for details.
