Not exactly the same since these are just using the ID to register taikong sim for reselling. Haven’t seen any stealing existing numbers by porting out into another sim and intercepting the victim’s otp to unlock existing accounts and transactions yet.

Just highlighting your concern of the physical nric to @ericcsn since it dosen't have to be a sophisticated attack to affect you negatively.

It can also be the low level attacks that hurts

Ok giga really a damn telco, upgraded my plan to the "new" one and reset my data rollover.

anyone know if the upgraded plan comes with any new termination clause? I want to jump ship already.

Likely new T&C etc. since you are going into a new agreement with GIGA.

But this is different from the pin and chip adoption. They way sim swaps are happening in the US are basically identical to how porting is done here, especially with some mvno's not having very robust verification procedures.

This one depends.
Anything iphone related they are usually very fast, etc esim, RSS etc.
VoLTE & VoWifi they got that working quite commonly like 10 years.

So far so good. Recent months I often lose connection when travelling between Clementi to Pionner. Play game DC, see YT buffering.

After switching to giga, no issue. Went to town one of the weekend and able to play game/see YT smoothly underground along green line.

that is something i didnt monitor.

It has a number of factors contributing to faster battery drain.
1. Most earlier 5G devices have less efficient modem compared to newer ones
2. Spotty coverage increases battery drain due to weak connection
3. 5G NSA uses 5G for data and VoLTE/4G Voice for calls, and both 4G and 5G radios are active at same time leading to higher battery drain

Newer devices should only lose a few percentage of battery life per day, not really a big issue for daily charging habits except for few outstanding ones that last 2 or 3 days for single charge.
