Can any one Help answer if I can move my whole setup to another location (Fiber ready) ?

Plan to use it at my mum's place foe few days (east to west).

Sorry guys if already someone mentioned, unable to read 200+ pages really.

Thanks.

I think only cable and adsl can. But fibre think cannot. Use mobile loh, or knock a few doors to leech their internet. Lol

I'm gonna use TP-Link for the 100mbs fibre broadband, and also homeplugs. Hopefully it will just work fine.

Anyway, just to check. Currently, I'm on the normal cable broadband. When Starhub comes today to install the modem to the tp, is it when the modem is connected to my router, it will work straightaway? Or do I still need to configure my router?

Have you requested Direct ONT? If you've requested Direct ONT, you can plug in your router into the ONT (incorrectly thought of as a modem - it is not a modem... it converts optical signals into electrical signals... there's no modulation / demodulation involved) and it'll work. If you have NOT requested Direct ONT, the StarHub technician will plug in the D-Link 5402 into the ONT. You can then plug your router into one of the LAN ports of the D-Link 5402, and your router will work.

In the first case (Direct ONT), no special configuration required. In the second case (connecting your router to the 5402), you'll probably want to turn off DHCP on your own router, so the D-Link does the routing and address assignment while your router does the wifi. You'll also want to turn off the wifi on the D-Link.

Yes, I have requested for Direct ONT. So no configuration to be done on my existing router, it should work right away. Thanks! Hopefully my TL-WR1043ND router can take the speed of the 100mbs fibre broadband.

Starhub come down to install Direct ONT to my place last night but then Starhub fibre connection is not up yet. They say my order is only partially closed, that is why I still can't surf fibre yet.

How long does this order closing take?

When they installed mine a couple of weeks ago it can be used immediately. However it was at 100mbps and I have to wait till the following Tuesday for my 200mbps provisioning to take place.

Funny... I get 300mbps from day one of installation... but took them another week or so before terminating my cable (not really sure coz was out of country), and the Fibre charge only start from the day Cable was disconnected, which is about a week later...

I notice that in the first few minutes of an hour, the connection to every single website will fail with no data received. Any suggestions?

my Starhub fibre 150MBPS is worse

download speed - 14mbps
upload speed - 12mbps

using dlink modem given by starhub.

whenever I call starhub support, the first thing support would recommend is use cable. why the morons dont understand - ipad, smartphones have to be connected through wireless. why the hell they give lousy routers

DO NOT SWITCH to FIBER

SH user... how is the experience on SH fiber? Is it good?
My contract with SH cable is gonna up soon. Gonna switch to fiber, wanted to jump to MR but might not jump over due to my SH VOIP number which my mum is always using.

Starhub Fibre is horrible. sucks. I have 150 MBPS and it's worse than my old 16MBPS cable modem. But I hear other ISPs give the same experience. they all collude; their main aim is to suck money, but vomit low quality service. IDA supports them too.

it is possible to hit 100mbps up/down with wireless n 5ghz. i got that consistently using my asus n66u with no line of sight either.

i am not sure what your fibre setup is, but bridging to a router with better wireless capabilities is strongly recommended. yes the supplied rg has poor wireless throughput though.

What router?

Try wired connection and determine it first before jumping conclusions
