Perform port forwarding (my friend did this). Strangely, at high I have no issues last week when I watched the stream of dota 2.

The expected ping to router for AV500 is in the range of 2 to 4 ms and from router to speedtest server is in the range of 0 to 5ms; which means, the maximum ping expected should be 9ms to speedtest server.

If it's the homplug/router that is causing the high latency then you can change it to a better one. If it's the quality of electrical cable which is the one that is causing it, then you can't do anything about it.

Twitch always lag. Don't worry about that.

I've had surfing issues for the last few days too on fiber 200mbps. Had issues to even sites like Maybank and DBS. All worked fine on StarHub 4g. Rebooting ONT and dliNk didn't resolve the issue. Then I switched off IPV6 and rebooted! Then everything has been fine since!

Good morning members,

I'm using the terrible Starhub D-Link DVG5402SP wireless router. I put in the living room beside my TV set and connection within the living room is excellent but in the rooms & kitchen, it's very terrible. How can I improve on it?

I'm thinking buying another router or buying those connection booster plugs. Any advise?

Thanks

My advise: buy a proper router and bridge the connection instead. Booster aka repeaters 1/2 your bandwidth. If you are ok with it (because all you need are signal strengths), go ahead then.

Thanks Gribber for the reply.

So a better suggestion would be a router then. Which router would be value for money? Btw, i'm on the 100mbps plan.

Sorry for the many questions cos i'm not a tech guy =:p

i think he asking u to get a router with bridge...Most will have. Then both router run togther.
If u have a dect phone near the router place it further away.
Raise the position of the router place as high as possible. Power cycle the router....any better now?

Router with bridge? Any off the shelves router that I have seen so far allows you to connect lan to lan ma. If you can connect lan to lan it iw considered "bridge"

Asus rt-n56u at least.

If budget permits, go for better 1.

Just to note that wireless is a hit n miss affair. You might not even get the range you want despite having a powerful router.

This can be due to environment surrounding, the position where you place your router, adapter and etc.

Well, the proven solution is to wired it up.

When going into wireless, there is a lot of uncontrollable factors that sometimes even the most expensive router will not help you much.

It will be good if you are come out your floor plan so that the bros here can advise you whether a budget RT-N56U will do for you or you need 2 high end model like RT-AC68U to bridge them up.
