Solved.

Just to share, i just installed an media server app on the Synology NAS. And the LG telly automatically detected the NAS. Nice.
Nothing to do with the router. But rather the status of the NAS.

tried turning off dlna on router?

no one can tell you which channel is best.

the best channel is the least used channel in your area.

there are channel 1 to 13... i tot the higher the channel the stronger the wifi signal :s11:
No lah...is like TV channel..signal strength same.

Less used channels means less interference means better signal.

I know CH1,6 and 12 is default on many devices so avoid those.

Get an app on ur smart phone scan and u will know what CH not to use.

some of my devices had problems with channel 12 and 13. But 11 and below are fine. for my neighbourhood, is channel 1 is the best and 6 is the most crowded

Theoretically channel 1,6,11 will be the optimal since 20MHz bandwidth will overlap up to 5 channels. I don't see the improvement when you change to channel 2 as it will have interference with channels 1 to 6, but no harm trying :)

No use changing the wireless channel.:(

Changed mine (several times, 3 to 4 channel change) when I contacted the D Link personnel about poor wireless coverage from D Link router when I first installed SH fiber.

Dlink support for this is lousy. I once consulted the person in charge and she told me to use channel 9. Turns out many others were using it too. Only made my wireless speeds slower

Changing channel won't make ur signal improve by leaps and bounds. With today's wireless devices we are definitely in a very signal dense area...mostly on 2.4Ghz so is very messy so ur signal is weak and slow.
So if u change to a ch with less ppl using ur signal becomes less congested so may improve.

Best boasting solution is get repeaters, extenders..

The supplied dlink is not too bad but is nothing to shout about. Get ur own router u should see aBT 10-20% improvement.. but if u getting the cheapo regular stuffs then it's abt the same. Relocating ur router may get better results.

Hi,

I've got a question.. Is it normal to have huge gap of download / wifi speed for desktop and laptop? Given both machines are in the same spot connecting to the same router D-Link DVG-N5402SP, both with firewall and anti-virus off.

I just did a speedtest for both of them. 5mpbs for desktop, 50-60mpbs for my laptop.
