We are aware that a small number of fibre broadband customers briefly experienced intermittent service today. Our engineers have rectified the issue. If you are still facing problems with your connection, please let us know at http://bit.ly/StarHubQuery.

Does not count considering the impact it has cause.

anyways, I've verified, all good now.

speeds are ok. International websites are ok.

fingers crossed as I've just signed up for the 300mbps plan and hoping this is not the sort of customer service which I'm signing up for.

poor management the way i see it.. goodness gracious.... gracias!

Heard at the starhub shop that one of the sales person telling a customer to go ahead with 100mbps cable instead of fiber broadband. I am thinking if the sales person is true that if is 100 mbps connection comparison cable 100 will be faster and stable then fiber 100? Can mind sharing your inputs and techical knowledge.

I think cable more subjected to the peak hour slowdown, but fiber is more network problem ... Got pros and cons ...

Coming from cable, I would say the fiber is alot better, reliable and stable.

But the same cant be said for others

How is the speed in term of cable vs fiber for the same speed eg 100mbps cable vs 100mpbs fiber on starhub. In term of speed to international sites and also doing some gaming and downloading files from torrenting.

If you have a choice, i suggest you skip Starhub altogether. Go with other fiber providers. Just browse through their community forum and you know what i mean:

MaxInfinity Fibre BroadBand - StarHub Community

I have both Singnet and Starhub. No issues with Singnet, but for Starhub i had 1 issue of non-access to certain websites (lasted 2 days) and 1 issue of downtime (lasted 1 day, well documented on their facebook). All within a month. Their tech support had no knowledge of the issue on both occasions and only gave some official notice until the problem dragged well into the next day. Tech support is extremely bad.

If you plan to stream videos from oversea websites then i honestly suggest you avoid Starhub. There are known issues with services like Unotelly, Unblock-us etc through their Fiber service. They also block some streaming websites.

posted this earlier but no response... shall try again and see if anyone faces the same problem.

I realised that facebook loads very slowly sometimes (facebook.com), but if i type in the full add: (https://www.facebook.com), it loads as per normal (speedy).

websites that used "connect.facebook.com" stuff also loads very slowly due to the facebook part. Can be seen at the status bar when the page is loading. problem exists in both firefox and chrome (latest stable ver)... could it be DNS problem?

I also realised that you can't change the DNS. run namebench and you will understand what I mean.

from my own experience till date.
the fiber is better because i utilized alot on uploads.

experience wise, no diff. Streaming videos is alot faster on fiber as well.
torrent wise, mine is not being throttled so always can get max torrent downloads as well

I second this. If you're sticking with Starhub, fibre is definitely better than cable.

I'd recommend you to boycott SH all together and go for other ISPs tho. The best now is probably MyRepublic and M1.
