My plan is 100Mbps plan. I just need the speed to be more consistent and not drop so much.

I assume you have only one circuit breaker in your house.
An AV500 with passthough at the router and an AV500 without passthough at your pc should get you to a range of 80 to 95Mbps downlink. Cost wise is less than $100 or if you can wait, get a pair of AV2 with passthough during PC show.

This might not be the best alternative for your budget.

for me i havent had issues with data, or cable tV. just the internet which has been crappy, and support for it is almost non-existent.

My internet is fine (so far for the last couple of years) no complains for me for my usage.

Data plan getting worst though :(

Different experience :)

I recommend you get a wireless-AC PCIE card then, I'm using the the Asus PCE AC-66.

But if you don't have a good line-of-sight or signal coverage (use InSSIDer to check) you may need to use homeplugs instead.

The only bad experiences I have with my SH fibre so far is Twitch and connection to China sites... that's about it. It's a waste.

I am glad I dont use either of them :)

My TP and ONT are located near the TV together with the cable TV set-top box, so I pulled a LAN cable along the walls from the TP to my router which is situated near the entrance of the bedrooms.

It's really easier relocating the router than the TP, since you can do the LAN cabling yourself.

Laying cables in your case might be more difficult because you need to lay it past the entrance of a room, so I'm unsure whether you should pay a bit more to relocate the TP entirely instead.

I'm on 100Mbps and video streaming is quite good save for Twitch (which is solely for streaming of video games, which you probably won't be interested in). Torrenting speeds are also quite decent.

In my opinion, unless you are a heavy user, 100-200Mbps should be enough. A higher bandwidth plan does come with higher international bandwidth, though, if you use overseas resources very frequently. You can check IDA's own readings here (scroll to the bottom for US servers) or search for SamKnows reports for comparisons.
Hello! I've updated the floorplan and noted the relocating route for the fibre TP, in red.

The good news is there is a false beam before the entrance of Room A and B.
The bad news is the area where the TP is currently at, will be messy regardless of cable management.
Meanwhile, the box in red has a solid stand to conceal all terminals and cables.

Though slightly longer in distance, this route should provide good concealment, and avoid the shelter & an area with previous water pipe and utility issue.

As per an earlier post, I believe you're using the D-Link DIR-865L?
What and how your network & devices are set up? (Desktop / Notebooks / Mobile Devices, 802.11n / ac, 2.4GHz / 5GHz)
How does it perform?

Thank you so much for the reports, and I'll absolutely watch for promos from the incoming IT show.

I signed up before Starhub gave out the D-Link 865L, so I was using the terrible D-Link DVG5402SP (very poor Wi-Fi coverage) before I caved in and bought my own router (Asus RT-N56U).

My desktop and laptops are connected through the less-congested 5GHz (desktop is using a PCIe card with external antennae), while mobile devices use the 2.4GHz band. The latter frequency band copes with bends much better.

Torrenting is satisfactory, hitting nearly 10MB/s (=80Mbps) with overseas peers. However whenever I do heavy file transfers between my desktop and laptop I find myself wishing that I had connected them with LAN cables instead.

I recommend getting at least a Cat5e LAN cable. There are pretty good deals in the marketplaces in HWZ and VRZ (because I'm lazy to travel all the way down to SLS).
That's reassuring. Thank you so much!

Like Bro Gribber, I don't have issue with their Internet (after upgrading that is), for my type of use.... for data..... tried all telco.... all same same.... unless there is a 4th player coming that offer better service... :D..... support?? simi support??? Think come HWZ we get better and faster advise.....

That time upgraded from 100 to 200... I could not use it for nearly 1 ******* week..... I call then almost everyday every hour...... till they finally figure what the **** is going on... :s8:

Then I also change my set top box for the cable tv and make some changes to some channel..... took then also 1 week to sort out the mess.....:s8:

Seriously if got heart problem...... already hand in IC and get a certificate.... :D
Anycase, the only reason is for the Hub Club discount.... since all major telco all sama sama... might as well pay the lowest.....
