Static discharge while charging my Iphone 7

Just now while charging and using my iphone 7.. I can feel electric current.

Then I called up.. apple CSO and the CSO told me to bring down my phone to any apple store and let them do a check. If there's anything wrong with the phone they will do a 1 to 1 exchange on the spot..

Wondering, if anyone else has encounter such an issue before while charging iphone??

To add on, shortly after 5mins of charging the Iphone Charger head get extremely hot..

I think it's normal. Mine also give me electric shocks when I use it while charging. I guess it's due to the aluminium body. Just don't let your feet touch the ground and it won't shock you. Or wear shoes.

You also using iPhone 7 matte black? my household not the kind to wear slipper/shoe while at home 1..

I'm surprised the op only experienced this recently. The device doesn't have a grounded chassis.

yup tried, still the same outcome.

If I remembered correctly..you also bought matte black 128gb right? no issue for you while charging?

Anyway, I booked an appt with A Lab next friday as this is the earliest date I can get with em.

So..will let em check and then let them decide whether is it safe to continue using or they will do a 1 to 1 exchange for me.

For now, I will not let it charge while am asleep..

It is because the charger is not earthed to the household outlet that's why got ant bite sensation when touching any metallic surface. Perfectly normal. All unearthed electrical appliances have same problem.

Okay, hope your 1 no issue.. Ya macbook well known for that but for iphone 7 i'm not sure since it just released..and furthermore matte black body is made of aluminium thus it may be more prone..to it.

You may need to check if your household socket is properly grounded.

You feel the tingle, because the leakage current is not grounded to earth, and when you are holding the phone while charging, the current flows through your body and to your legs, into the ground, as it offers the path of least resistance.

Usually this feeling will be more pronounced if you use a two prong plug... but I recall the iphone chargers are three pin type, check if the top pin is plastic or metal.

Plugged in my iPhone 7 with the new and my other old cables. So far no issues with static discharge. Ran the body of the phone around my body hair and no ant-bite sensation.
