Hi elevate, those are impressive lifts for someone who just started lifting, especially the squat!

Hey guys...I just finished my training cycle this week.

Going to fly off to Queensland (Bogan State) for the Oceania Championships later today.

Lifting on Sunday.
Look forward to updated stats on Monday.

Back from 3 week hiatus (1 week wisdom tooth removal, 1 week Hong Kong Trip, 1 week rest)

Weight dropped quite a fair bit, lucky for me i didn't lose as much muscle as compared to fats from bulking. dropped from being 68.6kg to 66.4kg.

luckily my lifts aren't really affected, only for my Squats which i had to drop 10lbs from 205lbs to 195lbs. but deadlifts kept going up, bench press remained for my week back and rows kept increasing.

so current PRs:

Bench: 68.2 kg (150 lb) x 5 reps
Squat: 88.6 kg (195 lb) x 5 reps
Deadlift: 93.2 kg (205 lb) x 5 reps

Current weight: 66.6kg

those are some pretty strong squats for your bodyweight!
are you involved in any other kinds of sports?

Well, you're still new to the gym, so your lifts will be increasing faster than usual. Enjoy this while it lasts, and make the most of it!

Argghhh....CRAP.

Just got back from the comp. Bombed like a sack of...you know what.

Coach had to do refereeing, so he told me to enter my own lifts. Got over zealous and failed.

BODYWEIGHT - 110kg

Squat - 215kg (failed 225kg due to crap form)

Bench - 147.5kg (was very easy, so I attempted 165kg and didn't manage to lock out - should have attempted lighter weight)

Deadlift - stuck at 230kg. Tried doing 250kg to break my own record and ended up drifting the bar and failing the lift. Horrible horrible form. No 2nd attempt given for 250kg.

Would go to the gym to max out and see what I can do just mucking around, but body can't take it.

Congrats on the new PRs, especially the bench. You're officially the strongest bencher here as well as overall strongest :)

Anyway, was the bench shirted or not? And I'm curious...how are your lift attempts decided? Do you tell them what numbers you wish to attempt or what?

Yeah...that was bench shirted, BUT, with a pause (bar rests at the bottom for about 2 seconds) so it sorta evens out.

If you don't want to update cause I'm wearing a bench shirt, fair enough.

I'll do a raw one soon enough. Give me a month to recover and finish a new training cycle.

Yup, have to give them attempt cards with the weights written down.

Well, I don't have any experience with bench shirts but I've read that they do help in the numbers. I'm not trying to be anal or anything, just wanted to clear things up :)
I'll keep the numbers there for now but do update us once you have a new raw PR.

Oh, and how many lifts do you get in the competition? I don't expect you start off with your max right?

Been making good and regular progress on my bench. Today, I managed to eke out one more rep at 92.5 kgs for 9 reps. Will make it to 10 reps next week before increasing the weight.

Heheh...no worries man. I didn't mean anything by it.

In comp you get 3 attempts per lift. A 4th attempt is only given for special consideration (i.e. breaking a record or the bar was not loaded correctly).

Usually, we warm up about 1/2 hour prior to our attempts.
