Yikes! Hope one day I can be like you guys :p

I am so far away!

I cannot do squats though :S

Slipped disc
rehab it with mobility and activity (but not crossing into pain) and get going. I have had a slipped disc before also. There are world class lifters who have rehabed from this, and even more serious back problems like fracutured vertebre. Not to fear. Its doable!

that's a very negative view..
don't let the doctors tell you what to do, they tell people not to do certain things to
protect themselves so that they don't get sued. The best way to get over your slipped disc
and not let it bother you in your life is to train your stomach and back muscles, your stabilisers,
ie, your core. trust me, I know of many ppl with slipped discs who live perfectly normal lifes and
lift a lot more than most. Squats, Deads, Cleans. They do it all. Don't sell yourself short.

Of course if you just sustained the injury, rest 1st, and when the trauma has more or less subsided,
then start slow.

cheers
Thanks for the pep talk Vitus :)

Well I have 2 slipped discs actually... L4 and L5. The crappy part is that the nucleus of both discs are dying, a.k.a deteriorating. There is another suspected one but the doctors thought it best to leave it alone.

Eventually the discs will die by the time I am in my mid 30s or so. They need to be replaced with artificial ones.

Surgery is actually my only given option as physiotherapy failed miserably :(

I will definitely try strengthening my core to make things better for myself though :)

Thanks again!

hey no problems! it's one of the reasons why I post, to share info. Your case sounds quite tough. I urge you to take your rest period seriously before you start again.. in the meantime, you can do aqua sports to strengthen your body while you recuperate. swimming, aqua aerobics (yes yes looks damned dumb and feels bloody gay but if you gotta problem, hey screw dignity yah?) will do your body good.

Don't despair, sometimes these things happen in life and how you deal with it helps to make you a better person.

cheers

Update: Edited the format so it doesn't take up so much space, and aligned all the columns so it's easier to see. We need more people, people! Where're Majestic12, ultimatesg, vurtomatic, ironx, etc?

timberman just updated his deadlift.. can you please update the chart? thanks.
No problem, I just did. Didn't see the update since there are so many posts. In the future please PM me or post in the thread to let me know if you've updated the numbers.

FireEmblem, nice numbers for a first timer. You should have a lot of potential. I foresee those numbers getting higher real soon real fast.

2722555, as long as you deadlift with good form, your hunched back should get better rather than worse since deadlifts strengthen your back and core.
