will you recommend Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones for an entry level Hi-Res music listening? couple with filo X1..

To be honest, Audio Technica ATH-M50X is one of the popular choice within its range. But of course, you are free to explore more options like what our brother has said, ATH-MSR7 is a good option, too. You can also compare with AKG K550 and Vmoda LP2.

Thank you very much. I got both the HD800 and the after-market cable from APureSound. I used to think that headfi-ers were smoking plenty of crack but after listening to both I am now at a loss to explain why in the world I actually hear differences...
