why not split half half?
both are dividends paying.

currently DBS is heavily weighted in STI, price movement will be similar. But STI gives 3+% divy average and DBS currently is 4.7%.

within the next 10yrs I dun foresee any other company overtake DBS. maybe prudenshit if they delist frm London and list in sgx. but most likely will be list in HK.

IMHO, DBS or UOB provide a better ROI than STI. Their dividend are quarterly and better too. And higher capital gain than STI too.
My plan is to use my CPF shares allotment to buy either DBS or UOB, and my remaining CPF Ordinary amount to buy STI when it drop below 3000.

d05 is ordinary shares.

My objective is to have a stable yeild higher than my housing loan 2.6% interest.

Time frame around 15-20 years if I really have that discipline to hold this long without getting emotionally affected by market swing.

With 300k cash, should I just buy sti etf at $2.90+ at around 4% yield?

Wow 300k cash! Why not consider investing in a more active ETI like IWDA or VWDA.

If people want yield which is Dividends distribution, IWDA or VWRA is 100% out of the question as it is an accumulating fund...So it should have been VWRD, not IWDA or VWRA...Oh it is VWRA not VWDA...

I used my SRS to invest in STI ETF, average close to 3k. May tap on cpf OA if it goes really low. Haven't decide entry point.

I believe is the former.

Any small start is a good start since poster is holding for long

True it's good to start early.

For a lumpsum case, the timing is critical.

Probably split the $4k into 8 equal purchases in the next few months.

Buy during dip on STI ETF, is it good choice to accumulate?

This ETF trade as normal like a stock right? When STI goes up, you can sell and earn the difference right?

Sorry i nood.

I tink anyone of us will tell u not to buy sti etf at a lump sum of $300k. Maybe start $30k at $2.90+ and move accordingly.

@4k guy, not sure if u r still reading this but sry to tell u buy sti etf back then.

Lets say last time S$1 can buy u 3 oranges. Now due to virus outbreak, NTUC selling at S$1 for 6 oranges .

Do u buy now and keep , assuming the oranges dun spoil and u can sell easily next time ? Keep buying if prices drop ? u may get oranges at a slightly higher prices than those who managed to buy near the bottom but still can make some profit .

Or u wait for cheaper prices to maximise profit ? what if NTUC suddenly jack up the prices as the virus slows down ?

I think it boils down to how much risks n profits u want in a nutshell ?.
