Yea for this observation I am actually worried for the SG economy as a whole. We are arguably one of the world's best countries in controlling COVID, but that translated almost nothing into powering our economy ahead. Stock market is in the doldrums, a big hole has appeared in our reserves, and everyone is still living on an edge.

We do well to handle problems, but it does not at least translate to reversal of losses from the initiation of the problems. But once new problems arise, we take a hard hit again. If this is indeed happening, the question will be, how many more hits can we take before we totally crumble?
SGX don't really represent the health of our real economy.
Look at USA for instance....Their ever ballooning trade deficit.

However, PAP also quite cham these days.....hard to appease avocado gen and at the same time "begging" around and look for MNCs to come over. Sad.

I will not disagree with this, however, what's your assessment of the health of our real economy?

Negative sentiment for me.

5 year chart of STI...

Index investing doesnt seem to work for STI. Better put that same money in First state bridge fund. Just look at the chart. Even in Mar 2020, it was down only 10%. It almost didnt have a negative month after that, except for slight negative in Sep 2020.

I have been talking about First State Bridge and First State China for the longest time. The fund manager Martin Lau has spoken about his investment philosophy and I wholly agree with it. If Martin Lau retires or leaves the fund, I'll need to read up more about the fund manager's investing style and decide whether to stay with First State or use free switching to move to Schroder's which would be my no.2 choice.

For SRS, I will use it for LionGlobal AllSeasons.
