Incredible that just 20 days ago, STI was Asia's worst performer.

I'm using cpf OA to buy so I can afford to wait since I can still earn the dividends which is higher than cpf interest.

Yeah since my bank loan for housing can be covered by my monthly contributions so the OA will build up over time. So every now and then just buy something with it. Only need 20k inside OA.

Singapore’s domestic wholesale sales plunged 36.4% year-on-year in 3Q2020 ended September, improving from the 40.6% decline seen in the previous quarter ended June.
This follows lower petroleum sales, according to the wholesale trade index released by the Department of Statistics (Singstat) on Nov 20.

STI was above 3300 on Jan 1st. How come 1.99%? Shouldnt it be -20%?

This is taken as part of the S&P Developed BMI where they included 93 stocks from Singapore and not our STI's 30.

Basically it should not be used to compare country vs country performance in the traditional sense..

This is taken as part of the S&P Developed BMI where they included 93 stocks from Singapore and not our STI's 30.

Basically it should not be used to compare country vs country performance in the traditional sense..

Damn! We should have had this 93 stocks index and not the 30 stupid stocks that dont reflect the real economy.

I can't find the list of constituents either, just the country breakdown is available.

Edit: I used this ETF as a proxy as it follows the similar enough S&P Developed Ex-U.S. BMI Index and has the holdings list available but I only found 43 funds from SG.

Thanks. It seems that the 31-93th stocks outperformed the top 30 by a wide margin, considering they have lower market cap but yet able to change STI's -20% into S&P's +1.99%.
