strangely my poems is in shares

Buying quantity is in shares but lot size is indicated to let u know the denomination.

Let me trace back a bit (page 27). Princessx was asking abt sti etf buying process as compared to stock, so i highlight the lot size is different. If her capital is $3k, she can try to buy 1220 shares instead of just 1200 or 1000 shares.

Imo, can buy more shares with same capital is good. :)

I had this same conversation in Page 3 and 4 of this thread...

This counter is a buy call if price < $3. This is the first stock I bought when I move from UT to stocks. Never sell, just keep on accumulate.

It is not to confuse people but to inform you that you can buy in multiples of 10 and not 100...So if you got $1,000 to invest and the price is $2.40, you can buy 410 shares instead of 400 shares...If it is in multiples of 100 which is $240 difference, you either have to fork out extra or invest lesser than the amount you got...I don't think this is a very difficult thing to understand right?

jus thinking if there's a more appropriate term for it, esp since many oldies are conditioned to think that 1lot = 1000shares.

if it's meant to indicate that ppl can only buy in multiplies of 10s, word it better lor.

They already put "Lot Size = 10", I don't see how can people not understand it? 1 lot equal to 1,000 shares is more than 5 years ago...If you had invested all this while, you will notice on your own brokers platform the lot size change from 1,000 to 100 to 10...

Correct me if i am wrong. All the while vickers quantity input is in unit shares, no diff even for oldies. The concept of lot and wording/indication of lot size r always there too. The only diff is lot size is indicated 10 instead of 1000.

Hi guys, any advice for a noob investor?

I've only started DCA last year with POSB Investsaver and have already incurred a huge loss due to Corvid.

Worse still, due to FOMO, I've withdrawn my entire savings and dumped around 50% into STI ETF at 2.5 and everyday I'm feeling horrible as I'm afraid I've invested too much at a non optimum price.

Should I withdraw the funds now and wait for the index to drop further before going all in just to be safe?

If market value profit/loss worries u, then u r not suitable for dca. Which technical analysis is showing u $2.50 is bad or u r relying solely on gut feeling/pro's tip? If it is the latter, i hope your feeling is right and good luck to u.

How much did u pump in? If < $10k, just hold. Do not recklessly invest again. If > $10k, u can consider selling a portion for some extra cash in this tough period. U can spend them at casinos or sg pools when they r opened again, to feel better.

I think STI ETF 2.5 still ok. If you can average down will be better, if not just hold.

Don't get too affected by "non-optimum price". If you get too affected by this and end up not sleeping well, then you ought to adjust your mindset. Otherwise it's not gonna be good for long term investing. I think you are doing quite well compared to many people.

Just remember you're in for the long. Set the next target price. Ready more cash in case you get to average down in the next dip.

2.5k is ok to me ... though I still waiting to buy at a slightly better price :D

if eventually I bought some, will just leave it there till it reach my target selling price. It is also a safer "FD" with better returns than the bank FD
