Sti 2643 vs Sti etf $2.698 :s13:

"Error" narrowed. Manager woke up from afternoon nap

During this crisis, I have been following my strategy to buy ES3 at specific price points I calculated. However, I made a newbie mistake of using ES3 price as the trigger. I should use STI value instead, because the ES3 price is not the same as STI value, and the "error" changes depending on how far away the next Ex-dividend is. It was +0.030 in April and about +0.055 recently.

Btw, "premium" might be a better word to reflect the accrued dividends?

I fixed my strategy by comparing the closing STI value vs closing iNAV from ES3 website to derive the prevailing "premium".

Am feeling great/lucky today to have bought some ES3 @ 2.685 when there was a brief dip during market open. :D

The cheapest I got was $2.32 on March 24 but definitely STI were lower than 2320 .

The daily /weekly or even am /pm swings around those weeks were scary .
1-2 days earlier or later and STI was
+-hundreds of points aka easy paper gain /loss .

STI was lowest at 2208 a few days earlier.

No. That’s was probably the time I almost gave up .
I got chopped to pieces earlier @
$2.6x,$2.7x,$2.8x and even $3.0x earlier.

I did better buying some other reits as I didn’t put my head out too early.

Don't get too fixated by the lowest point and miss out dca for the months that follow. Unless you had incredible foresight which made you dump 100% of your reserve at the lowest point, you will probably be better off trying to buy in regularly to deploy your reserve than trying to wait for that point again. You might even be better of than those who did buy at the lowest point and trying to wait for it to be lower before buying again.

Might sound like a sour grape :s13:

STI ETF year to date is -18.6%

NASDAQ YTD is +12%

The numbers tell a story

Ain’t a Dow or a S&P500 a better comparison to a STI than the tech focus NASDAQ?

But in any case, I believe the numbers will still tell the same story
