A lot of retirees bought dividends stocks like SIA, SPH, Singtel, Starhub, M1, Singpost, etc.

They collect dividends but suffer massive capital losses.

Some no dividends stocks also got capital losses, so just continue collect dividend stocks, while wait till price bounce up.

have to collect at lower price if possible to buffer the impact if capital gain also dio hit, like some trying to imply

Why is STI ETF pricing so near to STI's this few days? Previously it was trading at about 40 points higher..

Eg. Previously STI 2560. STI ETF would roughly be $2.6

Whereas today STI 2563.2. STI ETF is 2.569

Tracking error, management fees, and the uneven distribution and accumulation of dividends throughout the year by it's component stocks.

Are these the reasons for the few-cents gap between the two STI ETF.
Nikko STI ETF is trading higher.

Not entirely, it's probably due more to their different starting points a long time ago?

If you picked a random time in history, you would see the same gap of around 10cents(excluding dates near XD). My guess is when they first launched, that gap has always been around 10 cents and has naturally maintained over the years since they track the same index, with a slight convergence as G3B has been reducing their management fees over time.

It doesn’t really matter. What matters is the % change.

You look at other ETFs tracking index. Do they look similar to their index? Not always the case.

Don't compare prices of ES3 and G3B directly. Each ETF tracks its own NAV. They don't care what the other is trading at. As long as each ETF trades near its NAV (what each share is worth), we should be happy.

Both ES3 and G3B publish their intra-day NAV in real time:

It's lunch time now (12-1pm), and a good time to compare as prices are static.

STI: 2596

ES3
iNAV: $2.60
Last price: $2.605 (@11:58:23)

G3B
iNAV: $2.650100
Last price: $2.650 (@11:54:04)

They both track closely to their respective NAV, so all are good. It won't make sense if you try to compare ES3 and G3B prices; so don't do it.

I wish their difference in stock price was far larger. Having it this similar easily misleads the less informed into comparing them directly and thinking ES3 is "cheaper", or that one is inferior to the other.

Waiting for STI ETF to hit below $2 then consider hoot for the long haul. Sg economy so poor now, wont be a pipe dream right?

main contributors to "poor economy" are constructions and tourism/hospitality?
why construction come to a halt is you know I know.
construction will resume soon... any hope?
