Thank you very much. It's a good read to have a little more knowlegde on SSD.

Just a question i asked on my previous replies, what if i never set to ACHI mode and just happily install my windows 7, does it matters? And does it help if i set it now?

You need to change some registry settings before you can change to AHCI mode if you've already installed Windows, else you won't be able to boot into Windows. I've not tried it before, but if you google a bit, I think you'll find out how to do it.

As for whether it matters or not, I think it does cos it affects your SSD's performance and also the TRIM function only works in AHCI if I remember correctly.

Okies, googled and found this. Not sure if its the same like what u mention?

Btw, what if i opt to reformat everything on the ssd and reinstall again? Would it be better?

Get from the "official" source

support.microsoft.com/kb/922976

They even have a Fix-It link to do everything for you.

Fresh install is always better.

Noted.

Anyway, just to share some newbie experience i had before and after the installation on the ssd.

As i was doing the windows updates, i got this 80070005 error msg, keeps failing to update. And also, while i was trying to boot into bios using a gigabyte 870a-ud3 mainboard, i cant goto the bios setting menu screen, then i realise i was using wireless KB and mouse :p, hence should be "no connection yet", but despite i switch over to wired KB and mouse, still cannot boot into bios despite pressing F8-F12 and "delete buttone" at each restart, and also cant go into the chose which drive to boot screen. Very pek chek liao, so i decided to listen to you and do a fresh installation :)

From XS forums :

Newegg is giving a 15% off discount to any OCZ SSD as part of the "Black November" sale if you use the coupon code BLKNOVSSD at checkout.

Here's chart with the prices after discount and rebates:
