Near Sitex now. No time to do research. Wondering if it's worthwhile to get a SSD even though I'm on XP?

hi all, i've been looking for a sata 3 SSD to replace my sata 2 SSD (why own a SATA 3 mobo when you have no sata 3 drives at all lol). came down to these few 128gb ssds: Corsair Force GT, OCZ Vertex 3, Crucial M4.

i understand that the sandforce SSD users are facing random problems with the marvell mobo controllers but in my case, the Asus Maximus IV extreme comes with both the Intel and Marvell controllers. Also heard that there have been new firmware updates that more or less solve the BSOD problems.

so pretty confused over here right now.. sandforce with faster read/write speeds but risk getting BSOD or the crucial m4 which seems to be the safer bet?

makes me wanna stick with my trustable gskill falcon which has given me zero issues at all. hmm...

hmm ya lor...64gb a little too little...

im aiming for the OCZ 120gb wif free batman game. hopefully midnite got gd surprise..

same here. a friend working in micron singapore told me about his staff discount for crucial m4 128gb ssd: $172.50USD incl shipping. based on today's FX rate of 1.315, comes down S$227.

is this a good deal? apparently have to RMA back to US. that puts me off buying from retail. (does crucial have a distro in sg?)

the dumbest thing is that although the crucial m4s are made in sg, i have to wait for them to ship out of US which will only reach me before 8 dec (-____-)"

OCZ Octane Series SATA III Solid State Drive Review

The OCZ Octane will initially be offered in three capacities, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, with prices of $199, $369, and $879.
Those prices equate to approximately $1.55 (128GB), $1.44 (256GB), and $1.72 (512GB) per gigabyte, which is competitive with other solid state drives in the Octane’s class.
Keep in mind though, lower capacity Octane-series drives will have decreased write performance versus the drive we tested in this article.
