You tried to update bios right? I had that error also but skipped the error and it booted into windows.

Try updating using the ISO(i.e. burn to cd). That worked fine for me.

Yea.

I thought update via bios is the norm way?

Double click the downloaded file from m4 webbie.
It will auto reboot and start downloading the firmware?

Anyway, Latest firmware is good?
Or should I stay with the old firmware since everything is functioning well?

Found this on AnandTech.
Crucial has released a firmware update for its popular m4 SSD series. The update carries a version code of 000F. The update is said to improve compatibility with certain SAS expanders and RAID cards but Crucial is also claiming better throughput stability (i.e. performance) under heavy loads and enhanced data protection in the event of power loss.

It appears that the update is aimed more towards enterprise users than consumers because SAS expanders and RAID cards are primarily enterprise products. Consumer workloads are usually lighter and may not benefit from the improved throughput stability at heavy loads. Power-loss protection is welcomed by all users, however, as an unexpected power-loss may happen in any environment.

Crucial offers both a Windows 7 updater and traditional ISO file for upgrading the firmware. While the update is non-destructive in nature, we always recommended that you backup your important data before flashing the drive. The update can be downloaded here

So its safe to say, dont update is alright? Since the Rig is functioning well?

I bought my M4 256gb in May, updated to 000F via bootable thumbdrive in DOS before cloning my OS to the drive.

*Touchwood* So far so good...

Use the bootable iso instead of the exe file. I emcountered some issues with the exe the last time I tried. As for the data in the SSD, the last two times I updated, data was intact. But still best to backup any important data you may have.

I've read tons of people having that error you had, likewise me too.

However the ISO method doesn't have such error.

Hi, I read the posts about the crucial m4 firmware update. I've a few qns:

1. I just bought the 256GB version. How do I check what the firmware version is, out of box? Is it on some label on the box or SSD?

2. I'm going to install it in the main HDD bay of my MBP 13 (Early 2011) to replace my aging Intel X25M 120GB SSD. Any firmware issues I should be aware of?

Thanks! :D
