the sdd is now a clone of my then Win7, which in my opinion, the performance is more or less the same as my then harddisk Win7. I don't see any significant decrease in bootup time. This could probably due to the bad cloning procedure.

I had previously meddled with my BIOs in hope to tweak the performance, however it didn't help much either.

PS: I am using a Gigabyte MB, will furnish the exact model when I'm home, if it is necessary.

You should experience tremendous improvement in startup time and program load time. Something is wrong with your setup.

Go to your bios and make sure that your sata port is set to AHCI mode.

anybody managed to update their intel SSD 330 to the latest firmware? on the intel download page, it says the latest firmware released is 330i. but when i install the intel SSD toolkit, it still says that my firmware is the latest under the current toolbox release (even though my firmware is 300i) so the update button remains greyed out. :s11:

intel firmware is not downloaded from their server via the update button within the SSD toolkit. you need to download the latest SSD toolkit. the latest firmware are embedded within the SSD toolkit software itself.

yeah what i am saying is that i have installed the latest version of the intel SSD toolkit but the update button is still greyed out in spite of the fact that the release notes for this version specifies a newer firmware for my SSD.

Dilemma.. should I get the Samsung 830 256GB SSD going for US$169 on Amazon or get the Crucial M4 for my late-2008 MBP?

anyway for those who are using Intel SSD 330 series, there is no update for the firmware. intel released SSD toolbox 3.1.1 and the official firmware for 330 series is back to 300i. :(

Hi

I just bought crucial M4 128GB SSD. After installation, the start up is super fast. But shutting down also super slow. Sometime 5min to shut down.
Anyone encounter this problem after switching from normal harddisk to SSD ?

Googled a bit and found this:
Slow Windows 7 Shutdown - general-discussion - windows-7

Go to Advance Power Settings in Windows 7, and have the power feed to ALL hard drives to never turn off.

Turning off the computer takes 2 seconds now.

just installed win8 on kingdston ssdnow 512 SSD - still need to turn off indexing on system drive and max power manually.

windows experience score is 7.8 - the SSD is the lowest score; ram, cpu, gpu all higher at 8.1!

Guess it should be quite alright. Loving the boot-up speed. :)
