Well, if you see his posts, like eg from other thread, whr someone asked which is better, crucial m500 960gb or samsung evo 1tb, he blatantly advertised his strontium which only comes in 120/240gb....

So far, only 2 ppl seems to be promoting for plextor and strontium.

:s13::s13: That was funny. I didnt notice that.
What I was referring to this thread http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/storage-clinic-119/[official]-all-ssd-promos-deals-3721745.html
Majority are some sort of promotion or advertisement...

I also agree that blatant advertisement should be avoided. User comments should be welcomed...

I believe someone challenged him to show some prove that stronium hawk is worth recommending, but he failed in it. At least plextor got some favorable reviews, along with crucial and samsung...

Dont think that I am promoting. but if you ask from a user point of view, I am supporting Strontium HAWK, as I myself is an user and is very much happy with it. But it depends on individuals on how they see it...

Most of us recommed samsung and crucial and plextor coz it has been proven time after time... Maybe once in a while other brands like kingston or intel since they are also good and they were having a sale for it, so worth mentioning. But for other ssd, some ppl have problems with it and thus avoid it.

New comer like strontium hard to survive in this field....

Yea. you are correct. So let them prove themselves..
I had gone through some reviews before purchase and they were not that bad actually...

Anyone own a SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE1T0BW 2.5" 1TB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)?

I'm thinking about getting one of these, not use if I can find local or will have to ship in.

Very lightly your HDD have music, videos, games, movies in it as well.. Filter them out and you will know how much you need. If you are gonna use ssd for OS, most likely OS will tak around 10-15gb, impt applications and software, updates near to 10gb, depending on what you install.

All your movies, games, videos shld go to your HDD.

hi all,

need some advice from you all. my acer aspire 4750g has an optical drive which i seldom use. i come across articles that says i can swap out my optical drive and replace it with an ssd?
so firstly, the laptop can support 2 SSD drives (assuming i replace my HDD with an SSD)?
secondly, i see that there are caddies (similar structure to the optical drive which enables SSD to be placed within). is it required? else, how to place the SSD in the optical drive?

sorry if asking noob questions.

thanks in advance

Not all laptops support that.. need to ask acer for futher confirmation... i believe you would a special holder as well, to hold 2.5" hdd/ssd

icic. thanks. asking bcos laptop already 2+ years old and doubt acer will bother to answer. as laptop still going strong, thought of getting 2x250GB SSD (one to replace HDD and another to replace optical drive) as a minor upgrade. but will drop acer an email and hope to hear their replies.

hi all,

need help as i am at a lost already. recently got myself an intel 530 240GB SSD. when i first try to plug into my computer with the SATA-to-USB cable, Windows does not detect it. Go to computer management => disk management also similar. but when i plug it into another computer's HDD, i can use it to clean install windows. the SATA-to-USB cable is working fine as i tested it with other HDDs. using acer aspire 4750g.

any help or advice would be greatly welcomed. thanks!

Hi all,

A query for the PROS out there. Is the process of tweaking an mSATA the same as other normal SSD or required different steps?

Like disabling automatic defragmenting, memory dumps, reducing page file size etc.
