for those havent got one yet go get it.. after i on SSD, i never will want my OS in HDD anymore

if 120gig is too expensive, just get a 60 or so .. I so far installed Win7, Office, anti-virus, photoscape, cyberlink video editing , email (with lots of attachment) and a few more stuff i still hv 80G left on my 120G SSD

the respond speed, boot up time, and the knowledge that it *probably* will last longer then the average HDD due to no moving parts is all worth it

Adding to this, Kingston SSD comes with Garbage Collection(GC), which works very well on systems that don't support TRIM.

Kingston SSDs are on promo now. Go try it out....

Wanted to try out SSD and thinking about getting a not so ex one while looking
through the pricelist. Kingston 64GB 2.5” SSDNOW V Series @ $188 seems ok
although there is a 30GB @ $109 but after checking, 30GB probably too small
for Win7 O/S + Office2010. Any advice from bro/sis here? Thks.

got a problem with windows 7 and ssd. It will randomly freeze while broswing. After restart, got this critical event 41 kernel-power.

erm.. before the installation and upgrade was the PC running ok???

typical problem of such freeze is RAM.. as after boot up.. the access to ur SSD is less so chances of SSD problem is also less.. normally when u got SSD/HDD issue the PC wont even boot properly

try taking out some RAMS and see how.. maybe 1 of the stick is faulty

Noob question. I have read that SSDs set aside some space for garbage collection. Does it reduce the formatted capacity in any way? For example, if I buy a 60gb SSD, will I get full 60gb (or something close) or will I lose out 7% or 28% depending on the controller?

u will lose out some... i think some controller takes up more space, some less.. cant remember which but u can google.. if not mistaken the intel one take up more (u can double chk or wait for some pros to reply here )

For those considering to get the Kingston V series, I'd strongly suggest you check online for reviews and feedback on this drive first.

Sure, it might be slightly cheaper than OCZ or Intel or Corsair or G Skill, but from the general perception of the reviews/feedback that I have read so far, the V series (not V+ or V100) performance is not really that good. Some even complain that it's only slightly better than a normal HDD.

And not forgetting, it's not Sandforce driven:

Just a head's up.... don't want u all to waste your hard earned money for a dud then complain that SSD is overhyped.

Yep, the ssd is in sata3. While the other 2(1tb hdd & dvd-rom) is in the 2 sata2 port. Will try and change it to see if it freeze again.

If I could afford, I'd get it too, especially the X2 version. 740Mb/s read, 690Mb/s write....... *drool*
