There shouldn't be a problem, just don't do low-level format. Quick format will do.

Retail. FYI OEM are disks plugged out from laptops these sets do not have boxes/bracket and there's no warranty covered by intel.

its the same , SSD don't retain deleted data otherwise they'll be a burden to performance .
thats why there is TRIM , Garbage collection , etc

do a secure erase better to maintain performance

running a Crucial M4 120GB now, on Win7.

I notice that within the first 5 minutes of startup, my system will 'freeze' for about 90 seconds with HDD activity light going bonkers. My mouse cursor will still be able to move, but cannot do anything else. This happens without fail with every boot up. After this period, it doesn't happen again, and system operates per usual.

It appears that whatever is causing this consumes a lot of resources such that my computer experiences like a 99% freeze (mouse still working). However, my norton software did not detect any spike in CPU or Memory usage, nor did windows task manager, so it leads me to wonder if this is because of some issue with my SSD? Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Quite a noob at solving this kind of thing. Would appreciate any advice.

What nonsense, please stop misguiding people with this rubbish.

OEM is the same BRAND NEW drive, NOT 'plugged out from laptops', they're simply packaged differently (in the brown Intel box), yes without the nice blue box or the 2.5 -> 3.5 bracket. They are also covered under the same warranty as their retail cousins!

Please stop talking out of your backside if you don't know anything!

A low-level format increases wear, as does secure erase. But yes, a secure erase is better for maintaining performance.

Not 100% clean. I had a 100% brand new HP computer with H67 chipset, i7-2600.
Ran the computer clean, installed acronis true image, and did a clone of my drive to my Crucial m4 SSD.

No need to format. if u wanna reinstall OS, please use secure erase
