I actually placed my order using a UK visa debit card and chose sg as my shipping address. My apologies, I was not aware that singapore cards were not accepted. I don't understand why Crucial have an issue with sg cards. After all payment still cleared right?

Anyway for those who have successfully ordered drives, check to see if you have the latest firmware versions before installing your drives in hard-to-reach areas (like laptops). The firmware updater will not work in AHCI mode, so make sure you can select IDE mode in your BIOS first. I had to remove the drive from my vaio and flash it on my desktop because I realised that a little too late, which was troublesome. Mine shipped with version 1819 by the way, not the latest version 1916.

Guys, anyone has used ComGateway before? A few of my packages (including the SSD) were marked as delivered 2 days ago but until now they don't appear on My Account at all. How long it normally takes them to check-in the items? I did contact them through the online form but so far no reply yet :(

What a hassle. I got the sg credit card not accepted email. Luckily they do not charge until the item is confirmed to be shipped. Anyway its officially out of stock now. :s13:

That's the main issue with comgateway. I did complained that last time I had my shipment made through them but their official answer is 24-48 hours. My, like yours is still not in my account through it was delivered about 30 hours ago. Don't bother with their online forms, just wait for their online chat to come in at 11am SG time.

I had filled in their survey last time complaining that their standard of service is poor compared to Borderlinx, which usually takes not more than 24 hours. That was then when they throw me their standard answer. I shot back at them telling them that they are not taking in my suggestion objective by just issuing a standard book answer. Anyway, I am just waiting for 11am to "chat" with them. :(

I used paypal but deducted from my sg credit card. I went through the long way of creating an account and then paypal to avoid the tax. But anyway, with all these bad reviews from newegg for the 256GB, I am considering selling it away. :(

Seems like the forum is flooded with problems regarding the c300 series as well. Crashing and loosing data, degradation etc. Unfortunately crucial's reputation for Rams doesnt apply to SSDs as well. Gonna be hard for us to RMA if anything goes wrong too.

Anyways I had a second order via paypal when my first one failed. Did u put yr sg address as billing address?

I put in my US address since they say only available to North America customers only. No need to them to know that I am in SG since my delivery is to comgateway.

how does the intel x25m compare to these crucial drives in the last few pages? i'm in hong kong now looking to get some intel 80gb for 336 bucks.

also what's the word on the street regarding these kingston SNV drives that I've been hearing about? (price = 450sgd for 128gb)

If you're talking about the Crucial M225s, those are Indilinx drives, which means the Intel G2 will have about 2x the random read/write performance. The Crucial C300 is about 30-40% faster overall (256GB supposedly faster than 128GB).

fingers crossed my bank/crucial didn't muck up my debit card payment, wanna see the funds back in my bank acc asap...

I've been using comgateway about once a month for 3-4 years now, so far they've been reliable. Sometimes packages don't get processed instantly, but once they're processed the shipping is always much faster than estimated (leave US on Friday delivered by Monday or Tuesday).

You should really try borderlinx then and you will experience a whole new level of online shopping. :p

Comgateway just managed to match my package and the package came in under 0.5kg. Total charges including insurance (never knew that it is mandatory) and GST adds up to $43 (with 5% DBS cc discount and free upgrade to express shipping).

Hope that I can receive it by Sat with this express shipping.

Would you guys RAID 0 with 2 SSD or just use 2 SINGLE DRIVES?

Having dilemma now, 60GB too small so I'm gonna buy a new one.

I don't have a performance Intel SATA controller (mine AMD SB750) so RAID 0 does not seem that alluring. Coupled with the fact that I lose TRIM and the usual issues that can arise with RAID set ups, I'm thinking go with 2 SINGLE DRIVE.

What about you guys? what would be more important to you?

Just an update, there won't be any new stock for this model, so I canceled my order.

if you ordered before, i think they might still be able to fulfill it. i'm in contact with one of their customer reps via email now and she mention that i should be able to pay using paypal. if you are unwilling to wait then i guess the deal's off.

I have a feeling that whatever few orders left they will take from returned/refurbished stock as these are no longer in production. It states in the fine print that they may do this.

I'll probably just wait for future local deals since im in no rush for an ssd.

To raid or not to raid?
